Re: PHASE OR FLANGE
I prefer phasers over flangers any day. That being said, I love flangers.

at this point i'm pretty much spamming the forum with my board, but thought it germane to this thread that the ph-1r has won out for me, and the phasor may well be headed to the resale market...realmacaroni wrote:phaser, 2 of'em, pre and post dirt

Re: PHASE OR FLANGE
Sweet...any ideas on what you would replace the mu-fx with?

Re: PHASE OR FLANGE
@comesect2.0, as stated, i'm sticking with the ph-1r over the mu phasor
@actualidiot, i've loved the ph-1r since the first day i kicked it on (did not own one og, but "discovered" it more recently). it is def one of those boss pedals that "colors" a bit, but i just find i really like what it does. i have phase on about 90% of the time so it has sort of integrated itself into my tone. the phasor has great versatility, but i decided it was unnecessary, i don't NEED 6 stages for fuzz sounds and 4 stages for od and clean sounds. and i found myself tweaking it so much anyway it was becoming a hassle. i still tweak the ph-1r, but i pretty much know right where i want it for sounds i'm after. the phasor has a very distinct volume drop. aesthetically, the phasor is a little cumbersome. and i'm completely annoyed at the power supply situation (AC wall-wart or very specific psp) and the overpriced "necessary custom" exp pedal that is always sold out but i have no need or intention to buy anyway
ultimately, the ph-1r satisfies my garagey psych low-fi attitude much more than the phasor...

Re: PHASE OR FLANGE
why not both?
seriously though, i use the old black box TC Electronics phaser and flanger/chorus. the phaser is particularly versatile because it has 4/8/12-stage switchable settings.

I don't do phase or flange; I'm a trem and vibrato guy. The only chorus I like is the DC-2.

Re: PHASE OR FLANGE
My first pedal was a shitty Zoom multieffects, and one of my favorite patches was a phaser and a flanger set somewhat lightly and at different speeds. The asynchronous swirls were mesmerizing! I gotta do that again.dubkitty wrote:why not both?

Re: PHASE OR FLANGE
This track features copious use of flangeroni. (the channel it's on is also fab, wormhole to 1969)))))))

I don't have a straight flanger or phaser, the closest is when using the Xerograph dlx in certain subtle ways. But I have been eyeing an old black smallstone lately... first experience with that effect was actually a green Russian smallstone, a friend of mine borrowed one for a minute in the '90s. I have a great 4-track recording of that pedal. I just like the black better visually plus it's seemingly cheaper? Used to have a cmatmods phaser but flipped it, sounded too lush in a way and I'd like a pedal with less (one) or way more knobs.
