Yo bassists,
I need some help with setting up a bass amp. Our old bassist had/has an Ampeg B2re and EBS Neoline 2x12 (neodynium speakers). He's left the band, but he's gear's still in the rehearsal room. Just had an audition with a new bassist, and she's pretty god damn awesome, but she hasn't played in a band like ours (soundwise) and the settings the old dude had didn't really help her in the mix and the amp has like a 6 million band EQ no-one really understood. So I turn to you, dear Kitten Roomers - what should I do to the amp to make it sound good (if possible - internetz seems to confirm that it isn't one of Ampeg's best amps). Pretty sure Sandra is using an ESP something with active pickups. It had lots of knobs.
The amp:
http://www.ampeg.com/products/b/b2re/
Cab: EBS NeoLine 212

Configuration 2x 12" + 2"
Frequency Response 40 - 18k Hz
Sensitivity 103 dB
Power Rating 600 W RMS
Impedance 4 ohms
Volume 103 liters
Height 61 cm / 24"
Width 58 cm / 23"
Depth 44 cm / 17"
Weight 21.3 kg / 46.9 lbs
I'm doing a KT88 amp plus The Elements, the other guitarist is doing a JCM800. Neither of us have heaps of bass in the mix. Drummer has a monster kit with 2x22 inch bass drums. We play metal, tuned to D, and I guess mix wise we all like what Gojira is doing. Just thought I'd throw all that out there for reference.
What the shit should I do with the buttons and knobs and eq and stuff on that amp to get a good bass sound? What is a good bass sound for progressive (hi Behndy) metal? Any and all help is appreciated dudes.

Gotchya brah!
Go for a reverse smiley face centered around that 600 slider. Bass at 11 o clock, Ultra mid at 2pm, Treble at NONE(!).
Master all the way up, gain to taste.
That should get you a pretty aggro tone.

Yeah, reverse smiley gets that cut through the mix sound.

It takes time to repeat all the same crap they all learned to parrot off of tv so that they sound like they actually have a point you know.

Look where the knobs are, right up against the top of the enclosure, where the hell would you put jacks up there?
So what's the story with this thing? I haven't heard about it.

I really don't think you can put 4 knobs on such a small enclosure and still have top-mounted jacks, there just isn't enough room. If you squeeze the knobs down lower, they'll be right on top of the stomp switch and you'll be stepping on them.
Why is everyone always so obsessed with top-mount jacks? It's not the end of the world to have a half inch between your pedals bud

You can absolutely do top-mounted jacks, not sure why they haven't done it yet?
GreenhouseFX does that with all their pedals and their enclosures are actually narrower.

You can use them individually or blend them for a wide selection of crazy and wild textures and voicings. And as if that wasn't enough, use the Blend knob to add in some clean signal for 3 layers of fat, thick madness."

Fair enough, I'm not familar with GreenhouseFX. Just looking at their pedals on their site, they probably use a tall enclosure and stack the jacks underneath the pots. I guess that's one way to do it, although I wouldn't want to be the one trying to do that wiring job, it sounds like it would be a nightmare.

OK, I wonder which circuits these are based on.
