i DID accidentally get doused with a good 5 or 6 doses worth of liquid acid before a wharehouse gig one time though. thank GOOGILY that i'd done a buncha acid before that. when it started to come on a song into the set i was like, "huh. i'm on acid." didn't find out till later that my friend that was selling it on sugar cubes got bumped and spilled a bunch on me when i was passing by. messy.
but fo phsow. do what works for you. i'm just too wobbly to introduce extra stuff into the mix.
And sigged,....
I like the inebriation because it just loosens me up. Mecha Shiva is unsafe music to begin with so I'm a lot less tentative on experimentation and more inclined to take chances and not care if they are not working (give me a second I'll make it work). Our most epic sets (gigs) have usually been the ones that we all showed up early to, got a bunch of free booze and smoked out before going on. Conversely; our most disappointing gigs have been the ones where we've been rushed on to the stage without a chance to relax before playing.
I know there is a school of thought that if you think drugs and alcohol make you a better musician then you have a problem,...and I don't think that's the case for me. I rarely drink outside of rehearsals and gigs, and if I were in a more serious band,...like one that plays covers and is available for weddings, birthdays and bar mitzvahs; I'd be more professional about it (I'd also have to buy a tux
),...but I just wanna have fun.
