well, i mean, i'm jelly of being able to spend that much on basses. i keep getting distracted and struggle to put the $800 down i need to to get them started on my Dinger Numero Dosu.
um. still torn between a white body or black.
or
?
i'm kinda leaning towards the black now. meow?
Black for damn sure. Ugghh that white is.... offending me.
If you were pimping out a tux playing cruise ships or weddings, then a white would be dashing.

Why do you have multiple fuzz pedals, or delay pedals or multiples of your multiples? Having different options available is nice. And since they're cracking down hard on hookers and blow these days, what else is one gonna spend money on?
Agreed 100%
Multiple echoczar's ?

why multiple basses? i want a second Dinger but that's just for backy uppy reasons.

First reason.... I'm a whore. Of the worst kind.
My OCD tendency just doesn't allow me to have a single *anything* if it's something I dig..... instruments, pedals, books, fleshlights,etc.... yada yada..
Second... I have about 6 different tunings I keep mine in. Not necessarily my choice for solo wankery, but it's leftover from the days when I played with guitarists who had multiple instruments, all different tunings, and usually a floating trem which makes it impossible to change tunings on the fly. Bitches.
Third... Even when talking about the same models of the same brand... they all sound and play different. Some of them
very different. I use my MTD's for different styles... one of them it's almost impossible to tap on. Another one you can tap for days, but can't slap for shit because of the pitch of the neck angle and the wood combo is just way too harsh. Another one has a wicked pick tone, but way too grindy for thumpy fingerstyle, etc...
This is all because of the way I set them up, not because they're lacking in some way. Personally, I just like multiple basses to do
exactly one thing perfectly rather than jack of all trades, master of none.

Yea but you own like 10 MTD's. LOL
I want....
boner
Ben are you getting another AB1 or an AB2? I love the tops on the AB2's. I know it doesn't make that big a difference and some of the tops can be pretty expensive. I just dig the look of them.

I didn't even get into the different wood combo's of mine.
The 435 you're getting is one of the best... tulip and maple are a great all around match.
The wenge neck and FB are the icing on the cake. If you've never had an all wenge neck, be prepared for a treat. The way Tobias finishes those are pure sex.

I use different tunings.
I have one guitar that I tune in C# Standard/Drop B and C Standard. I use this one to play APC, QOTSA songs
Then I've got another alternated between Standard/Drop D as well as Eb and also D Standard/Drop C. I use that one to learn Weezer/Nirvana/Hum/Steven Wilson/Radiohead songs as well as SOAD songs and White Pony era Deftones songs.
I also think it's fun to riff non-metal styles in what are traditionally considered to be metal tunings. Part of that is a love of a song called Salvador Sanchez by Sun Kil Moon. I'm not sure what tuning that song is in,...but it's low and a little droning, but it's not at all a metal sounding song.
So because I have guitars in these lower tunings; it only makes sense to have basses that can match those tunings. It's way easier to pickup and play a guitar or bass that is purpose setup to handle those tunings, than it is to have to constantly change tuning on one guitar/bass.
Currently my 5 string is setup to handle being a whole step down,...but I may tune that back up to standard (BEADG) and Drop B and tune my four stringer to handle Standard/DropC/Eb/D Standard/DropC.

AB1 for surrrrrrre. no offense, they can be pretty, but i hate tops on basses for me. i like a simple solid color or a stain you can see the grain through. meow.
GRRRR I USED TO LIKE THE WHITE ONE WHY DO I HATE THE WHITE ONE NOW.
tunings - yah. i've never really played with that many guitarists and i don't really get the different tunings. i have a hard enough time staying decent in standard BEADGC.
ocd - my tendencies work the opposite way. i seriously have found the perfect bass for me. i want just a clone in a different color. one that sounds exactly the same and feels exactly the same and makes my junk moist exactly the same. gimme.
urg. now that green is speaking to me. DAMNIT.

I don't like the transwhite...a solid white like the below is sweet though.
I know with the 4 string Dingwall tuned DADG, there are some neat lines I can play that were too big of a stretch or too akward when tuned EADG. A real fun one is playing a 9th interval from the low string, in the same way you would normally play an octave above when tuned EADG. Made something up a few weeks ago that I don't think I would have ever arrived at in standard tuning.
I think I've finally realized that I will need to keep both of my Dingwalls. As much as I wish my 4 string was another 5 string, I'm starting to appreciate the fun things I can do like the above by dropping the E into a D with the Hipshot detuner. That and no one seems to be interested in a 4 string Dingwall at the price I feel it should bring (its a fantastic fucking bass), means I'm a lot happier keeping it instead of selling at a "Discount". The walnut neck makes me very happy.
Need to sell some other stuff though, which really means I need to get stuff listed.

So from what I gathered from the website, the main difference is alder and walnut as the body woods between the AB1 and ABII?
I'm not a fan of the chambers and F holes on the ABII, but it does say a flamed top is available on the ABI
Inntrrrrssting....

huh. i like the transwhite a lot better. seeing wood grains makes me giggly. GIGGLY.
and i hate pale fretboards and headstocks. dark dark dark DARK please.
mewwwww.
lol. i kinda like the F Hole, but i'd be afraid i'd snap something off. the ABII is different pickups too, they're active. i don't like active. gimme them hot passives like on the ABI.
yah. you get a boat load more options with the II, but i'm such a git about what does what wood wise in basses all the extras would just be guesses for me. i just stick with "OOOOOO! THAT is pretty! gimme DAT!!!".

Yeah, that's one of the reason I love the Walnut neck on my 4 string and also why I'm surprised I ended up with a Black and Maple Pbass as I've never liked Black, nor the black and maple color, nor Pbasses until I played that bass.

At one point I was thinking I could sell both of my basses and get a Dingwall AB2 with a flamed redwood top I saw at Basscentral. I've always loved flamed redwood, but I just can't imagine playing a fancy wood topped bass out anymore. I'd like to have it in my house to play inside and look out, but for whatever reason I wouldn't want to gig one at the places we play.
I do love this one though:
