I'm fluent in pick, finger, thumb, slap and pop!

My guitarist is always trying to make me play with just a thumb because that's how they did it in the 50s and 60s... It's not because it sounds any differently, it's just because they did it like that and he doesn't care for better technique or anything.

I didn't really start playing with my fingers until last year, but now it's my preferred playing style.

This is me now. Used to play with a pick all the time, and got tired of it. I can play just as fast with my fingers now through lots of practice. I will also strum, flick or play harmonics with my fingers. Fuck picks

Hey whatever floats your boat. The pick is the only way that I'm a passably useful bassist. I've spent literally hundreds of hours trying to play with my fingers and I just suck. Same with slap and pop. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, but I really wish I had those hours of my life back.

Normally I'd have been all up inya, but it was one of those things where I get in late with overseas colleagues and then we had a morning meeting, so no time for funsees. I did get one of my colleagues to buy a sweet minty used MIA start in Phoenix to take home though.

For somebody that started on guitar and couldn't fingerpick to save his life I'm terrible with a pick on bass and use fingers only.
