That TB story is just messed up. It's pretty ridiculous that the builder was calling out the guy for photo manipulation. Sounds very similar to behndy's situation. Except this time it wasn't just a bill and a half.
I could never dish out $5000 for a bass sight unseen, but this definitely warrants some concern for buying unplayed gear. Just glad at this point to hear he got a refund.

On a side note, fuck any instrument at that price that isn't already set up. And fuck that pocket placement of the truss rod bolt. Who is that even for?

Well, I've got a hell of a story, guys. Both my G&L and my Ric and my covers-band pedalboard were almost ripped off yesterday. Someone broke into our practice space (and two other band rooms as well) and they had gathered up my basses, my guitarist's main guitar, and both of our pedalboards and a bunch of other shit from other bands, all into a pile right next to the window they broke in from. From what I understand, while they were gathering up all of the gear to load out, they set off the building alarm, and they must have just booked it. So one of the bands went to the practice spot yesterday to find all 3 bands' shit all piled together next to a window and all of our doors smashed in.

I don't usually leave the Ric at the practice spot, but I did last week because I was running really late going home after practice, and I just said fuck it. Of course that's the week someone breaks in.

So, I fucking lucked the hell out that I didn't lose any of my shit. But now we definitely need to find a new practice spot.

Fuck dude, that's about as close as you get to curling up in a ball and sobbing.

I learned the hard way about 10 years ago to NEVER leave any of my shit in our space. Our course it wasn't the smartest thing to have a room in the south Bronx, but that's what we could afford at the time.

We had all pitched in for a PA, rack gear, and 2 powers amps. They were all wheeled out when another band broke into our space and just took the road-ready case (yeah we made it easy for them) and rolled it straight into their van.

Yeah, I hear ya. I usually bring the Ric and the pedalboard home, and I leave the G&L and my amp there. I leave the G&L for my guitarist to jam on during the week when I'm not there.

They didn't go for any of the amps or PAs at all. It looks like they were just taking guitars and pedals. At least, that's all they got into the big pile before they split. Probably because that's the easiest shit to pawn.

do you have home-owners/renters insurance? i got mines specifically for gear. it covers if i get robbed from my car or a show or at practice.

i mean, everything would take FOREVER to replace, but at least getting the money to do it would help tons.
