1998 Hamer Phantom! the pups are duncans but i am not sure which ones. the bucker sounds a bit like the jb4 that i have in another guitar but a bit more gainy maybe...

isn't it a relation to the hamer "prototype" with the 3 coil pickup? iirc those were made by dimarzio....sharp guitar.

I stared at MLC's Hamer for about two minutes trying to figure out why it looked off somehow. Then I noticed the seemingly triple-coil pickup, which I'm assuming is a single-coil right up beside a bucker.

yep, from what i was able to find on a not so in depth google search was that the hamer "prototype" was made for a little bit during the early/mid eighties. 83-85? hamer re-introduced them as the phantom in 97 and built them for about a year in 98/early 99. then they changed it to the phantom custom so my model was only built for a year!
not sure what sort of pups were in the prototypes but the pups in this are definitely duncans. the bucker might be a jb4. i have a jb4 in one of my lp copies and it sounds very similar. the bucker in the hamer has a touch more gain tough. the single sounds great! i think it is more of a tele style single but i have never owned a strat so...

sounds like a dream!

yep, single on top and bucker on bottom. three way toggle so single is the neck and bucker is the bridge. sounds awesome with both pups on!!!

Gretsch is the new addition. It sounds sweet with fuzz. Cranked BD is

The pickups are a bit weak but nothing a booster wouldn't fix. I might get a TV Jones pu for the bridge.

I, too, have one of those and I really love mine. If You dig down-tuning, that's one affordable DOOM-tool for thrashing chords by a bass >> series of fuzzes.

Which strings are you using? It seems to be hard to find strings thick and long enough.
