Yes, because there is no way to make a joke AND treat theft and abuse seriously.
You can get off your high horse now. I know that you think that we should get a lawyer and sue the shit out of her. I also know that a law suit will NOT make her less likely to hurt someone else in the future. I am not going to let someone accuse me of being the bad guy here, because we aren't doing what your profession says we should do about every-fucking-thing. I think that the law is, and always has been, written for the rich. I am not rich. The kickstarter backers aren't going after her because there isn't any money to get from her. She doesn't have anything to win anymore, so what would the suit be for? It would be expensive, time consuming, and it would bring her toxic persona into their lives even more, which is no small thing.
I also think that your assumption that we would be protecting others by filing suit is naive and shortsighted. Her problems are much deeper than us teaching her a lesson by stopping her this time. She doesn't learn lessons, or we wouldn't be here.
Furthermore, we haven't given anything back to her. We haven't folded or given her what she is asking us for. I fail to see how we are treating this like a joke. We are going to lose a full 60% of our operating income. We have been publicly slandered for weeks now. The situation at hand is not a joke, but we are, as a community, allowed to find humor in life and in Aen's choice of underwear.

I think what Chank is saying relates to the same problems encountered by our 24hr news cycle.
People care about the issue in general but this thread has gone on for so long, and without any real developments to the story, that folks have just grown tired of it.
Hence the multi-page references to snacks and such.
I think it kinda became a game to make this thread as many pages as possible.
While we all need hobbies, and while it is certainly admirable that you don't want to see people get screwed over by Devi, at the end of the day it isn't your job to police Devi.
Your admonishments aren't going to change her behavior. If people want to give her money she may well give them reason to not have done that.
Word will travel fast and others will speak out and then the market will speak.
Dwarfcraft are handling this well and are doing all they can to get away from the drama.
As to everyone else in all things: Caveat Emptor
While I don't believe this, wouldn't it be "So Devi" if G.K IS devi? If she created her own "stalker" so she could have an antagonist to play off of and to keep the drama alive?

I guess it's as much regret as anything. I regret not speaking up earlier when dwarfcraft was under some delusion that Devi was not going to fuck them over
or reminding the kickstarter backers that they were going to get screwed in the end
I like to keep track of things, especially when someone like that continues to actively trash people. I like to keep the eye on people that continually abuse people. I think it's important to ad a counterpoint when someone tells people stuff about the law that just isn't true for self-serving purposes.
strict caveat emptor really only applies in good faith efforts. We're talking about something much different. well, at least I was
if you think dwarfcraft is going to be the last victims...we'll that's a pipe dream
but you guys have spoken, and it's been pretty insulting...so I get it. This isn't the place for me. In reality I'm not welcome here. So I'll get that taken care of and be out of your hair. I'll see if there's a deactivate thing on the control panel. If not...mods if you could deactivate that'd be great

Might I (seriously) recommend starting your own DeviWatch blog? I know you can get them going for free using sites like Tumblr, and that way you'd be able to chronicle her every move without having to deal with a community that just wants to talk about panties and snax.
