I've had some of the same problems as bigchiefbc. The George L's were good for a while, but they all crapped out on me within a year or two.
Sure, you can recut them and everything. But it is a pain in the ass and makes me really wary of using them live.
Just too inconsistent for my needs.

Well I hope that doesn't happen to me. That would suck. But I don't play out so it'd be an inconvenience, but wouldn't kill me. Shitty though. I wonder what causes them to fail.

Their shittyness... All cables that get moved around and jostled will go out... The only way to make sure a cable lasts it to secure it and never move it... There are phone cables in the downtown office that were installed in the 40's-50's that are still working but I have a Hosa that lasted a week because it was at the front of my chain and I was always plugging and unplugging...

I've never had a single issue with George Ls but I can't help but think that there is something better out there.

There's really no reason to buy more than local mom and pop built cables.

"My Mom builds your cables" is a great slogan for a family pedal business.

We need someones Mom to make some pedal bags, or stamp the boxes or send cookies with each purchase...
"Lovingly Packed by Mom" they could be in lil lunchboxes and include an uplifting note...

I agree to a certain extent. The advantage to lava or george l or planet waves is being able to customize the length and having a small cap to work with. I almost bought a 3 foot hosa instead but I have had those fuckers go bad on me before. So I figures, why not try these out?
I had one fail today already, found the culprit in less than a minute and fixed it. It was totally my fault. The cable wasn't pushed in far enough.
I'm digging them. They seem to have made a difference in how boomy my bass is. It's weird. That's why I mentioned a audible difference. My bass sounds, well, cleaner. My signal was all shit before, lots of feedback and annoying hums. Now there is nothing.
I don't know that George L's were the exact route I had to go, but I do know the patch cables I had were shit.

Totally. And good cables>bad cables, for sure, but there seems to be a very quick diminishing return there.
Definitely not trying to throw the toan warrior of the legal stripe blanket on ya.

So I wanted to post on Talkbass about my sister because she's still not even half way to her goal. I politely asked John Turner if I could post there about it, and he said no that it wasn't allowed on Talkbass. I accepted this, but then I looked around and see people using TB threads to sell pedals (like I'm a pedal builder) or Spencer from 3 Leaf Audio posting an auction for a friend who suffered a stroke, and no one did anything to stop them. I asked how this was fair and was told they can't monitor every post and to report them.
I'm supposed to report them? Fuck that. That's fucking ridiculous. I can't believe they would say no about me doing that. It's bullshit. I'm really irritated. I get that it's a rule, but it's a stupid fucking rule. Will it hurt them? No. Then why the fuck do they care?
Rant over.
My birthday is Friday. I'm kind of depressed about it too. I'm getting older and it's scary. 31...yea, yea. I know that's not old, but it's moving forward. It scares me. Plus I feel like a selfish asshole wanting shit when my sister needs so much help.
Sigh.

It's a rough situation Jwar, and no one including yourself should have any expectations as it is really out of anyone's hands. You're not an asshole. It seems to me like TB doesn't want you do that but won't stop you? maybe you could just post anyway? what's the worse that could happen?

ARE THOSE DIPSHITS OVER THERE SERIOUSLY PAYING $1300 FOR CUSTOM MADE PEDAL BOARDS?Yeah, I went on their site yesterday. Looked like some AWESOME stuff. BUT, there is no way in hell I would ever pay $1300 for a PEDAL BOARD! No way. Even of I was rich. I would soon enough commission a good friend of mine to take his sweet time and build a custom board to my specks. And knowing my friend, it would turn out just as good if not better than a Salvage. AND it would still cost under half of what they want. Dont get me wrong, there are some sick boards they build, but even for a base model one that cost $115, I could build that for $40. Shoot, I did build one that looks a lot like one of the lower end ones they had on there site. In fact, mine looked even better. And I spent like $40 on mine. And it works wonderfully. Just ridiculous amounts of money for those things. They are for rich rock stars IMO.
Okay okay; obviously not every board that Salvage makes is gonna hit the $1250 range; and if some doctor or lawyer is able to pay that,...more power to em,...but shesh. Who in there right mind is gonna drop that kind of coin on a flipping pedal board.
Oh right,...doctors and lawyers.
I'll reserve comment on Salvages reputation.
I gotta say though,...I'm super intrigued by the Custom District Pedalboards that Jean Baudin uses.
