Half of the reason I record myself playing at all is make sure that I remember the sounds I liked out of stuff.

So hypothetically... could I put a bass speaker in a guitar cab and get a decent sound from it? I'm hardly using this 1x12 and would really love to have it as a practice cab or something.

Pretty much. I've heard some things about porting and whatnot, but the basic principle would be fine.

That's about what I figured. I'm not going to get too anal about all the sub-freqs I can get. Thanks for the help.

Here is what the TB crowd would say (paraphrasing).

Cabs are designed around the drivers that the manufacturer intends to use

I don't really have source material and I've never looked into it further but I know that I've come across that more than a few times.

I look at a cabinet manufacturer like Avatar. On the surface it appears that they have a singular cabinet for the 410/410NEO/212/212NEO and the only difference beyond the drivers is the baffles they use.

So unless there is some voodoo; it would seem that some manufactures do not subscribe to the cabs being designed around the drivers philosophy. Perhaps that's why they are more of a budget manufacturer. They don't put that sort of R&D into their process. I've noted that the 410NEO that I had was pretty bass heavy and perhaps the lack of thorough design contributed to that, or perhaps not.

And sousie; Thom said that behndy couldn't post pron anymore and everyone has a sad.

Short answer: Yes, and it will sound fine except the guitar cab probably doesn't have the interior volume needed to get the deep lows, if that matters to you. For a practice cab, it should be fine.

So after some thinking, I listed my Eden head on Talkbass as well as Craigslist. I love the tone, but am left feeling a bit underwhelmed by it as well. I don't know why? I miss my GK head, but love tubes.

Anyway, after I listed it on Craigslist, I got hit up by a dude offering a Genz Benz Shuttlemax 12.0
I did some research and listened to an awesome demo of it, and am going through with a straight trade. The guy and I exchanged a few e-mails then talked on the phone for about an hour tonight. He's a cool 62 year old dude that lives about 30 mins away from me. He told me all about his band and who he's met and how one of his buddies is getting an amp ready for Namm this year. Seemed like an awesome guy and possible a mentor of sorts. I'm really excited to met him! Kind of weird. haha

So what I think is cool about the Shuttlemax is that it's dual channel and you can blend them together or separately. PLUS. It has filter options and a huge EQ system for both channels. Another cool thing about it is that you can overdrive the shit out of the tube channel and it gets fucking gnarly! The demos are awesome. I can't wait to try it out. Plus this mean I can get another 600 watt cab of the same size and blow my house away! Hah!

So happy.

cool! Genz Benz makes good amps. Really loud too. very clean but not wimpy from my experience. a better alternative to Mark Bass in my opinion
