OK so I learned stackables are for sending multiple CV instead of receiving multiple CV.. cool to know. it'd be cooler if you could stack receiving cvs!!

so if you have a bunch of VCAs, you need a bunch of modulation right? now I'm getting stuck.. what do you think would be the best way to get the most out of this? what would be a suitable replacement for batumi until I can actually find one used? looking to get complex drones out of this while also processing some field samples.. I'll be using a beatstep pro along with this

A Mutable Peaks might be good for you resincum, two envelopes/lfos/drum voices.

Bastl CV Trinity might be a good match. 6 CV sources (random, lfo, ad/ar, or knob recorders). I would suspect the knob recorders could go well with clouds (and you could use them as a non-quantized 32 step sequence...Or use it as like a freeze/hold trigger gen). It has an internal clock too.

Continuing from above:

You probably have to figure out what works for you, but using some kind of trigger generator into the sync in on the sq-1 would probably give you some step length variation. Or use a switch to alternate two different envelopes or something to give it a move dynamic feel and rhythm while keeping the same basic sequence.

Also, you may want some variation on the vca front. Linear, exponential, 4-quad, and lpg are all different enough to justify some variety. The synthrotek dual vca has both expo/Lin in 4 hp and the Ryo has three different steps between linear and expo in their three vca 4hp module.

Moddemix is a dual 4 quadrant multiplier vca with an aux in that works as a mixer.

Ring mods can be used as a vca in a pinch too.

Bastl skis has two decay only envelopes and two vcas in 5hp.

@Resin

Peaks is a great option, has a lot in it and there is the Dead Mans Catch Firmware that only offers more. Pico DSP is also a great small option for various effects in a small space. Maybe take a look at the Dreadbox Phaser to get some more cool sounds.

Agreed on Peaks, although I'm finding the interface a little difficult, especially with DMC installed. I basically have to have a cheat sheet at all times, same with Disting. They're not the most intuitive modules. Maybe a Quadra would be nice for straightforward modulation/envelopes in there?

The Dreadbox Phaser also has 2 LFO outs, very handy. You can clock a whole patch from it, just to sync with the phase. :joy:
A Roland FX module in or outside of the rack is more powerful than a Disting. Doesn't do all the same stuff, but most of it plus lots of other stuff, and more stuff at once, up to 6x more.

thx dudes.. I ended up going with the Peaks. dug into o_C after and I'm king of thinking I should of went with that? that thing is a fucking powerhouse.. too late tho :) also ended up going for a Phonogene over the clouds.. muahahahahaha!!! I have 20hp left. gotta figure out how to get the most out of this stuff. I can easily see myself expanding in a couple of months  oh and I'm definitely getting an Aira module or two. that behind the scenes virtual sub module stuff is next level.

You can always get Peaks and o_C. :)

o_C can do way too many things, it's pretty much an essential module for any system at this point and I would recommend that everyone has one.

in other news: I think the person who was selling me the Intellijel Metropolis honeydicked me. Bummer.

Disting Mk4 in! So many functions it's a little overwhelming

Already found several modes that would probably be worth the HP on their own though, so I'm very happy it.
