It's almost always the same people again and a again that make me steadfast in not posting anymore. They really suck the life out of life...

me.

Masturbation with my SA pedals and a delay. Don't know what's up with the weird pops and clicks on the track, but whatever...

I actually got to see a template from the original neck and headstock design (which Fender nixed because the lower portion of the headstock was too curved like Fender's headstock,...you can see where Dan changed it to the more triangular shape). I also got to see the drawing for the bridge he was going to do but instead decided to go with the current oval shape. Apparently Darrin (my boss) and Dan are well acquainted,...Darrin actually provided a lot of BEM for the low serial # Laklands.
Skylines on the other hand? While I admire that Dan wants to reach a working musicians market,...those basses are a little silly (albeit the savior of Lakland). I can't in good conscience buy an $800-$1500 import (unless it's from Germany). Those Skylines certainly aren't worthy of a club IMO,....but meh. I've found club threads to be somewhat useful in gathering information,...but I certainly am loathed to be a part of any club (back in '06 I was a little more naive).
FYI, there is no Dan anymore...he had to sell out. Horribly unprofitable.
I have no problem with the Skyline stuff, a friend has a JO5 that is probably the lightest, best sounding 5 string jazz I've ever played. The Chicago basses were/are nice, but they were way overpriced in the market...especially before they started making their own pre's and pickups.
Yah, I've met Dan aswell, he sodl it to The owner or Hanson pickups who makes pickups for Lakland as well as other companies (that I can't say). I have a skyline decade, it's amazing, thankyou.

I stand corrected on Dan; I thought he was still involved.
I also saw a pricelist from 1994,...you could get a Laky 94-?? for $1500. What that is in todays $$$? IDK? But I thought that was kinda cool.
With regard to the Skyline; I guess my point is that at that price point,...there are better options that aren't imports; but to each his own.
Lastly @ MM,....I don't know what to say about your thread really,...some people need to grow a thick skin (referring to the TBers who got butt hurt). I don't mind wanking,....but I can't do it,....so I don't. I had a little time where I wanted to be into Victor Wooten,...I bought his albums,...I tried listening to em,...I just couldn't get into it.
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones OTOH? I dig em,...but it's not just about bass wanking,...it's about bass,...drumitar,...banjo,...and horn wanking,....and sometimes steel drums,....and Tuvan Throat singing,...and oboe wanking.
FWIW,...I actually prefer the duet stuff that Bela Fleck and Edgar Meyer do. Upright Bass Wanking FTW

Man, I saw that thread and consciously avoided it because I knew how it would wind up, though I agree with the anti-wanking sentiment 100%. Didn't notice who started the thread.
Glad I read about it here on ILF and clicked over - how in the hell did I make it to this point in my life without the Leaf Hounds? That shit is the JAM.

I kind of got fed up with the mention of Jaco and Geddy in every thread in every sub forum.
And the whole “I want to have Victor’s baby” attitude over there.
I do admire the talent of Victor, Stu Hamm, Billy Sheehan, Steve Bailey and a lot of others, but not to the point of mindless worship.
On that note what’s the best any thing for metal and will it sound just like Muse?

Talkbass solidified my addiction to gear in a big way, but the posts are extremely redundant there. Haven't been active in a long time, and probably won't be any more except the classifieds.
"How do I play finger style in my metal band and cut through the mix??? I've been playing bass for like three whole months now and we're ready to go on tour, will my 20W Hartke be enough to gig with?"
