This way makes sense to me. And yeah, stupid EE's being all complicated! ME MAKE AMP WORK SMASH!!!

This is how my red bear works as well.

One time he mentioned that he normally runs his custom head with a 16ohm cab into an 8 ohm out...while I know this isnt 2 into 4...he still gives the thumbs up as that being safe.
Mine also has a 1/3 power switch to bring from 300 down to 100 and he suggested that it would be totally cool to run an 8 ohm cab off of the resulting tripled 4ohm out that would create 12ohms...ill use a 16 in that case...but he seems fairly confident in his internal structure, apparently not one OT has ever blown on one of his Meatsmoke power sections.
8 ohm tap into 16 ohm cab is probably an ok impedance mismatch for most amps but its not the preferred one of 16 ohm tap into 8 ohm cab. Always better to dump into a smaller impedance cab than dump into a larger impedance cab. He uses Hammond iron so its not cheap stuff and it likely handles the mismatch fine its the power tubes that likely end up taking the most beating if you do the improper mismatch

Yeah, whenever I mismatch my iron can handle it but my tubes start to over heat. An 8 ohm cab with a 16 ohm cab is 5.33 ohms which Ben runs out of the 4 ohm tap of his amp. Not the best, but not bad if it's a good amp and not overly hot.

in the case where you run a 8 ohm tap into 16 ohm cab you end up causing flyback voltage on the output tubes which can kill them due to arcing. Cheap OTs might also die due to arcing but any good amp has a good OT with large insulation voltage rating.

I just plug all my cabs into an amp at once. The ones that catch on fire, I throw away. The ones that survive, it's a match!

JESUSFUCKINGSHRIST- I am now switching to all combo amps. SS combo amps at that. Send me your Gorillas and Peavey Bandits. Fuuuuuuck.....................................

Impedance isn't difficult as long as you're matching. I'm having issues with my SVT's impedance but I'm actually having issues with mismatching. But for sake of confusion and all that shit, it's just best to match and if you're not sure just ask. We got that Verellen issue settled in no time!

Here's one that's got me stumped; I know a stock Traynor YBA-3 has series speaker outs, and has a fixed 8 ohm impedance. But I know some problem modify the outputs to parallel, since it's not common you'll plug in two 4 ohm cabs. I happen to have two 4 ohm cabs, though, but I'm not sure if my speaker outs have been modified or not. It's got one terminal, going to the exact same terminal on the other out, which to me sounds/looks like parallel. But I think parallel would require both terminals going over. But I also don't know if the way it's wired now is series. Haha. That might sound confusing. I can't quite read schematics well enough to know, either. As it stands, plugging into the extended speaker out *only* will not give me any volume louder than whispering. But works fine when only the regular out is plugged, or when both are plugged.
So I just wanna know if my outputs are series like they should be, or have been modified to parallel. Halp!
Here's a pic:

You know shits serious when you have a damn key for your amp.
