I might mask and paint something similar on there once I am 100% certain that is how it is so it's less confusing in case someone is "helping" me set up.
Go get a silver sharpie and draw diagonal lines like this:
\O\O
O\O\O
That would make it look a lot more logical.

yeah because what guitarist in their right mind would use two 4ohm cabs?????
This guy.
My mind is not right. It left.

Only you John. Only you.
Everyone else would rewire them to 16ohm....

I will report back when I get a definitive answer, or of that doesn't happen before I get to impatient, open it up and look.
Ben doesnt use load selectors because of the possibility of the switch getting stuck in an inbetween position
D.o.S. wrote:chillerthanmost wrote:No way, to makes perfect sense! Haha. I've never ever seen an amp with dual outputs that labels the cabs impedance, only the total impedance.
Seriously?
I feel like all the heads I've ever used have speaker outs that are labelled for the ohmage of the speaker cab.
My orange just has a total ohm selector, though, and that's what I've been using since I sold my Sovtek.
That's what I thought too...but boy was I wrong haha...luckily he builds his shit like a fucking tank because for a little bit I was running two 8ohm cabs off of the two 8ohm outs meaning I was running 8 ohms into an 4 ohm load. Im glad I know now though, and coming to this knowledge through experience has engraved it into my skull.

I wire to 4 ohms because all my amps do 4 ohms but not all do 16 ohms. But I know not to plug in two 4 ohm cabs unless the amp can do 2 ohms, or is wired in series like my Traynor to do 8 ohms
And Skip --->

I think we can all agree it's good we got it figured out so that pretty Verellen doesn't get damaged
Total impedance, guys <333

My Orange has the weird Pin Selector thing and a pair of unlabelled speaker outs. I'll snap a photo tonight.

Same with my Sound City. Which means it's a total impedance load for the outputs. Not the cabs to plug in. So if you choose 8 ohms, you don't plug in two 8 ohm cabs, you plug in two 16 ohm cabs OR just a single 8 ohm cab

Haha Verellen's are weird though...Ben is always suggesting "safe" mismatches haha.
One time he mentioned that he normally runs his custom head with a 16ohm cab into an 8 ohm out...while I know this isnt 2 into 4...he still gives the thumbs up as that being safe.
Mine also has a 1/3 power switch to bring from 300 down to 100 and he suggested that it would be totally cool to run an 8 ohm cab off of the resulting tripled 4ohm out that would create 12ohms...ill use a 16 in that case...but he seems fairly confident in his internal structure, apparently not one OT has ever blown on one of his Meatsmoke power sections.

I ran all kinds of mismatches for years, blissfully ignorant that it was a bad idea. Only ever had 2 amps die on me and that was after a TON of use and abuse, and those were cheap/crappy amps.
I know better now but still sometimes wire up some mismatches because I think it sounds better. I try to stay close to tolerance and if I can get it to exactly what is right for the amp, that's the way to go.

Seriously, it's meant for me like "hey, idiot, follow these guidelines and you'll be ok"

Right, but my Sovtek was the opposite - it was definitely labelled for Cabs.
Fucking Science.

I see. My Sovtek (MIG100H) had three outs and each was labeled 16ohms, 8 ohms, and 4 ohms.
