I haven't had tendonitis, but I've had a Carpal Tunnel-like RSI. I waited too long to start seeking treatment. The earlier you catch it, the better.

Some things that ended up helping me:

Acupuncture
Massage Therapy
Stretching (before, during and after you play.) Learn some Alexander Technique type stuff
Make sure your bass is in a good ergonomic position relative to your body.

Oh, I'll also add that you probably don't have to stop playing completely, but you may have to cut back for a while (and alter some of your techniques). I'd check with my treatment provider to see what's an acceptable amount of playing to be doing. You should also go to a doctor to get it diagnosed. That may help determine what you end up seeking in the way of treatment. Good luck. Not being able to use your hands how you want to is lame. I hope you feel better soon.

Good advice. I'd also like to add icing and an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen.

I've had problems with my wrist (bad fret hand technique) and got a wrist support/strap that helps a lot. I try to only use it if I'm going to be playing for a while though as I don't want my wrist to become dependent on the help. I don't know where your pain is but I'm sure they make them for elbows and shoulders.

OH GAWD BJORK WAS SO GOOD TONIGHT. SHE PLAYED IN THE ROUND. I DIDN'T KNOW THIS SHOW WAS IN THE ROUND.

she's fucking awesome. yeah, the choir she brought along was kinda awkward about being on stage. they looked like. high school production, but the sounded really good. drummer did some really cool stuff on his mostly electro, a tiny bit acoustic kit, dood with the keys could have hid most of his stuff off stage and just used controllers with a more skeletal frame so more stuff was visible....

BUT THEY HAD 4 IPADS LINKED PLAYING A MOTHERFUCKING SINGING TESLA COIL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STAGE. LOUD ASS BUZZSAW LIGHTNING FUCK YEAH.

there was this really subtle neat thing too. the guy playing ipads, there's a newer song she does where there's a stuttery sequenced background vocal thing built out of different vocal noises Bjork does. cut a little choppy so it's staccato and rhythmic. they had it running as a sequence on each pad, so he'd do layers with them.

but instead of a sampler showing on the 'pad or an audio file it was a tiny chunk of Bjork from the video where they took the audio. so it would show a flash of Bjork being assembled in a car factory for All Is Full Of Love, her sitting on a patch of Icelandic mountain growing out of her for Joga, almost nude from the Pagan Poetry vid, i forget which one where she grows a metal tiger exoskeleton out of her every time she shakes her head....

really neat 'cause it wasn't projected on the screens, it was just on the 'pads. so only a few people could see it and it was like just something the kid doing that part cut up for himself.

OH SHIT. ALSO. since it was in the round she walked through the crowd to get to the stage. they roped off a little walkway path, RIGHT fucking next to me. like, she walked maybe 6 inches away from me 4 times to go to and fro the stage.
