But to jwar's point there were also other threads with 'name-calling' between member and echo which leads me to think the 'name-calling' in this thread wasn't just about the topic here (which does happen on any forum -> Inside jokes, cross topic discussion etc.)

EDIT: In the spirit of full transparency I'm not trying to single anyone out. I just think if we're quoting name calling, one could also quote the inverse (people calling echo names). That said, 'No' I don't agree retaliating to the degree that he did was appropriate.

Since I wasn't around for most of this shitstorm and am looking back at it sort of in awe, I'm not going to try to chime in with any kind of detailed thing.

I will say that this forum does a good job of keeping people in check regarding the one rule, and it seems that anytime someone throws a fit, it's because they're feeling wronged because they aren't allowed to be the asshole they wanna be.

To that I say there are plenty of places you can be an asshole. I don't know why there's the impulse to fight to make that place here. Seems tiring.

Yeah, that was a reference to a general response from other posters, not you specifically.

See, I need to see links for that, because, thus far, I haven't seen anyone do so, other than a few jokes from D.o.S./Chank that one could argue were intended as "inside jokes" (at least, that's what I thought they were until now, not that I paid any real attention to them ) rather than purposeful antagonizing or name calling.

And, again, fair enough. I was thinking of those 2-3 pages in the gear preview thread coupled with comments on page three of this thread. My perception is certainly a limitation though so perhaps I read to far into them.

In regards to consequences for Weinstein (I'm not trying to deflect), I did some research into rape sentencing. Looks like a conviction of 1st Degree Rape is a Class B Felony and you can get anywhere from 5-25 years. I'm sure there is already some sort of plea/settlement in the works. I can't emphasize enough how disgusting I find him and all the ILF rhetoric aside it's truly not comprehendible how many lives he ruined and for what? Movies?

@IM - I get something out of these threads. Perhaps it's more interpersonal but I think I learn how to engage further in sensitive dialog with people?

I don't get the anti (fictional) hivemind stuff. That's likely people just longing for the days when they could be more openly offensive? Those good ol' days of men being shitheads online. Seems like when people feel that lame safehaven is being threatened, they start throwing out comments about PC and SJWs. Haha when I tried to act like that, Witt used it as an excuse to lash out at me for being "boring." Sharktooth did it better

@IM - I think people care 'who' the problem is because of sentiments expressed on this page (@popvulture). I would say these are positive attributes to maintain an 'inclusive' (I really wanted to use another word, sorry) place. That's a big part of what ILF positions itself on (I think?). Not subscribing to any gear hierarchies and all are welcome (provided you don't break the one rule). I've had nothing but positive experiences here and I want other posters to have the same.

@olin - Thank you, that was very kind. I am a cis-gendered 'He'. I did make fun of some celebrities on more than a few occasions though (Billy Corgan and J Mascis mostly but I have been know to speak poorly about people that open Reverb Shops which I should really cool off on cause it's not that big a deal.)

My issues with this forum have become more to light in the last several months (at least to me). I'm not sure if it's a me issue of a other people issue.

I know that my intent behind this thread was not to have a huge pissing match. It was to converse with intelligence.
