Ain't no Peet's in texas. Also I usually go to local coffee shops (there are...five? Maybe four? In Denton) but I was in Rowlett, TX, where, to even find a Starbucks, I had to go to the Super Target.BitchPudding wrote:Enjoy it while it lasts. I still don't really know how to feel about that.

I just discovered the awesomeness of the french press. I usually drink 8 o'clock 1/2 original 1/2 columbian. Sometimes if I'm feeling fancy I get a bag of starbucks dark italian roast.

Oh man, oh man.
French press it up.
Definitely way better than doing it on the old Walmart Mr. Coffee percolator.
It's like:
"Mr. Coffee? Nah, call me Monsieur Coffee."
The only issue I have is that I don't have an effective way of heating up larger quantities of water.
I need to get an electric kettle or something.

French press is kind of it for me. I think it's because there is no paper filter to absorb the oils that I love so much.
However, i have been cheating on my french press with this:
http://aerobie.com/products/aeropress.htm
and a metal replacement filter that allows the oils to spill through.

It's like a well done steak, if you're ordering that, just gtfo
I agree. And the caffeine loss that comes with the longer roast is another turn off.

That's pretty much it. You just do it slowly. I personally have the same issue with the Chemex that I do with other paper filter solutions and that is that the paper absorbs all of the oils from the coffee. If you like your coffee with more body then avoid paper filter solutions. French Press, Espresso machines and an Aeropress loaded with a metal filter are good options for keeping your coffee intact.

Re: Do you folks like coffee?
If any of you guys decide to get a chemex, hit up ebay and look for the old pyrex ones. The new ones are VERY fragile while pyrex is like concrete.
