Hey, I'm Jason. I'm 21 and from Connecticut. Love pedals and play in a few bands. I'm really into Pavement and the ilk, sludge metal, and punk/pop-punk but I like a lot of stuff. Nice to meet you all.

Hi I'm Jake, early 30s, live in Minnesota. Haven't been in a band since high school, just playing for my own amusement. Major GAS lately; amps, pedals, maybe a guitar or two soon. Heard this place mentioned at a local guitar shop.
Into metal, high gain stuff right now.

Howdy! Joined ILF a few days ago, mainly to check out a piece of gear for sale by someone here on the forum.
Had a wonderful experience chatting with him (and buying the piece of gear), and got a sense of how special this forum
is.
I'm a guitar player, but my main focus is producing and performing electonic music. I've been based in Tokyo, Japan for the past
decade or so - moving to Berlin this fall to take the music thing to the next level! You can check out some of my music here if you're so inclined:

I'll be posting on the "show me your..." pretty soon with some pics of my gear and studio. Been on a bit of a shopping spree
lately, so lots of cool new goodies to show!
Looking forward to being a part of the community.

hi my name is Andy, I'm 31, been playing bass for 20 years now, I'm trying to rebuild my pedalboard at the moment, but do it the right way this time, I joined to ask questions/brainstorm with people who might have more experience with what im trying to accomplish sonically. I play professionally for the Army Band, but I'm still a metalhead at heart, i own mostly DOD pedals, i have BOSS TU2,BOSS Octave, FX91 bass overdrive, 2 FX92 bass grunge,FX86 Death Metal, Q Bomb(Q tron copy), DOD Deep freeze. I'm Contemplating having some mods done to couple of these, I just wanna know if what I'm trying to accomplish is possible, I guess I'll search the site to find where or who to ask the right questions, Later

Hi andy, does the army buy pedals for you? I think you'll find that a lot of what people are into here is a step above what is available at guitar center. Not necessarily more expensive, just a lot of the builders here get some crazy circuits going and really take pride in the components used as well as attention to every last detail. There are tons of demos here mixed up with the madness and silliness of this community. It's a great place to learn and sometimes you have to sift through some oddball commentary to find the sonic treasure.
Getting involved here reaps dividends. I've met a lot of amazing musicians and have actually gotten to meet up with quite a few people here in person and check out their bands. they have all been awesome.
Check out the builder subforums and the shark tanks. Some of what people here create just fucking blows my mind.
I'm a 12 year vet myself so if you ever need anything feel free to message me.

Re: = Introduce Yourself =
hey thanks AxAxSxSx, the Army does, but I don't get to keep them forever, just to borrow, and with the economic situation at the moment, pedals can be a tough sell for them, it was easy a few years back, but now I have to do paperwork to justify each item I have them order like strings, cables, etc, and all have to be from one business, like sweetwater or music123, so I prefer to buy and play my own basses, pedals(not amps though, my head weighs over 80 lbs),im a metalhead at heart, so I use my 81 mockingbird for most of what I do, I just love analog fx,the piece of gear ive had the longest is my dod bass grunge, got when I was12, so im a dod fanboy, but I dig the darkglass products($$$), EH, MYCO three is intriguing, as far GC is concerned, the only thing they got going is some of their used selection, I usually buy used, Boss pedals are blah, that's why I dig dod's 90's stuff, it had character, and is a little nostalgic for my, so I dig analog as much as possible, anyways thanks for the warm welcome I appreciate it, talk to ya soon!

^ Hey, you put that video up the same night I joined the forum... coincidence? I have no idea but I'm thinking no.
Hello, my name is a name that I am not going to tell you, instead you can refer to me by my username, though I would prefer that you take out the "Man" becuase I don't really like that part, it's just a name I've used on the internet for a little while.
Anyways, I am almost 18 years old and this probably makes me the baby in comparison to everyone else here, which is fine by me I guess.
I've been playing the guitar for about... umm... oh wow, I guess it's been 7 years, or at least almost 7 years.
I'm a big fan of noisemaking and of course, I love fuzz, though I don't use it as often as I probably should.
My favorite band at the moment is probably Sonic Youth and has been for a couple years now, I especially like the stuff they released during the 80s, but all of it is good in my opinion. Other bands I like: Mudhoney, Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age, Slowdive, the Ramones, Black Sabbath, Dinosaur Jr., pre-Rollins Black Flag, Electric Wizard (kind of), and various others I don't feel like mentioning.
I have too many guitars for my age, honestly... I've got a MIM Strat, a Baja Tele, an SG Special faded, an early 80s Alvarez Acoustic my dad used to own (so thus I got it for free) one of those cheap Laguna electric guitars (my friend gave it to me, so that one was free too) which I have covered in stickers and other things that I've taped on it and tuned to a Sonic Youth tuning (F#-F#-F#-F#-E-B). I am not currently in a band, and I've never really been in what I consider to be an "actual" band, but I really want to be in a band, it's tough finding other people with similar musical interests in the area I live in, if I lived closer to the city it probably wouldn't be as bad.
Well I think that's all I have to say then.

Things I want and do not have: A decent microphone for my amp, someone/something to play drums for me, and most of the things I see on this forum.

No such thing as a coincidence. Just a little anticipatoryesque welcome there (as long as there's no burninating the countryside).

Also, I remember the pains of living back in Montgomery, Texas and having very few people to jam with.
Moving to a college town helped a lot.

Re: = Introduce Yourself =
My favorite Nirvana album would probably be Bleach becuase of the raw sound and the songs are somewhat hard to listen to for some people (ie Negative Creep and Paper Cuts), which is right up my alley, not to mention there's that first track, Blew, that's in Drop C which is a great bluesy/sludgey kind of song. I had a friend in middle school who was the one who got me into Nirvana and heavier music in general (Before that I listened to classic rock for the most part and before that I didn't really think to much about music, I just kind of listened to whatever was on the radio) and I remember the day he brought over his Bleach CD and played the first song. It was an amazing feeling. He played guitar too and we used to goof around because we hadn't quite learned how to actually play anything yet, but those days are gone, at least for now. Good talking to you!PetZounds wrote:Favorite Nirvana album?TrogdorMan wrote:My favorite band at the moment is probably Sonic Youth and has been for a couple years now, I especially like the stuff they released during the 80s, but all of it is good in my opinion.
