yurrrrrrr. again, i don't think i've ever listened to any of their songs, but usually silly insane dedication to theatrics.... means the music is a second thought to the spectacle?

I'm going to admit that I actually like the first slipknot album, just because of how insanely fucking pissed off it is. It's good workout-at-the-gym music. Their drummer is pretty decent (basically the only guy in the group with any talent). But I fucking hate the costumes and theatrics and shit, it's SOOOOOO FUCKING CHEESY.

isssssss it worth checking out? or more a I Liked It When It Came Out Yay Good Memories thingy?
also, been delving through many, many assloads of dubstep guys. 's funny because maybe 25% of the people that get listed as dubstep are just 4 On The Floor meh dance with an occasional really bassy filtered sweep thing. like any genre about 90% of it's shit, but even the boring super formulaic guys/laydays have a song or two that's cool. and i've found 2 or 3 people that i actually like a lot.
one of them's Borgore. he's a little frustrating because he likes to rap and if it's a line or two, kinda silly fun. but i think.... he thinks he's good at that. and he's got some REALLY tasty programming skeelz, but he sounds like the guy from The Streets little brother that doesn't get the iron/humor side of that style.
there IS some really cool electro stuff getting done by people i'm just finding. and some of the people i love are just not bringing it as interesting (Squarepusher) or rarely putting out stuff (Aphex). my ears are HAPPY.

It's not a memories thing, I'll still listen to it every now and then (like I said, usually when I'm running or working out). I don't know if it's up your alley, though. It's just pissed off metal, with a few loops and samples mixed in.

I had the first Slipknot record that had a song that was omitted from later pressings. Not sure why, but it was a good song. Can't remember the name or even how it went,...one of those I'd recognize it if I heard it deals.
I've actually met the DJ and one of the percussionists when the band was playing a side stage for Ozzfest 99. We were on our way out of whatever town in bumblefuck VA the Ampitheater was at and we saw a bus at a Burger King and pulled over to see who it was.
They were down to earth dudes. We offered to smoke them out,...but they said they weren't doing drugs on this tour. I think they just had the kind bud and didn't wanna smoke hippy schwag.

Yeah I met them too, when I was working security at a festival when I was in college (I think it was in 2000). I had to go get them in their trailer and bring them to the autograph booth. They were totally nice and funny dudes. But even then I thought the horror masks were lame.
