Looking for beer bars, restaurants, record stores, guitar stores, etc. And places to go in general! Going to Kumas and The Chicago Diner, probably Local Option, Hopleaf, and a couple others. And stopping by Three Floyds on our way in/out. But anyone got suggestions?
Man. That sucks. We're leaving March 19.
If you're looking for breweries, Revolution (Milwaukee and California)has a brew pub and some solid offerings. I'm partial to their Eugene porter but the Antihero IPA is really popular in town. Chicago Diner is meh. If you're looking for some good veggie stuff, Handlebar (North and Oakley)is way better. Better beer and booze selection, too. Big Star(North and Damen), the bar I used to work at, has a solid beer selection and an amazing bourbon selection. Just around the corner from there is a place called Links Taproom(on Milwaukee just a little south of the Damen/North/Milwaukee intersection). The vibe isn't that great but the beer selection is pretty crazy. Right across the street from there is Reckless Records. Lots of great stuff there. There's a cool used bookstore right there called Myopic, too. If you're out late at night, the Flat Iron, where two of the Indian dudes work is open until 4AM. Right around the corner on North Ave. is Estelle's, the bar I work at. Also open until 4AM. Estelle's has a decent beer selection, too.
I don't ever really go to music stores so I don't know what's cool.
Bummed we're gonna miss each other.

Yeah, I'm bummed too... but thanks for the recommendations! I think I had Revolution and Reckless on our list of places to go but all those other places sound great. Will definitely have to put them on the list.

First of all. Sonofabitch I want to move to PNW so I can hang and play loud ass amps and Dunwich tourboxes with you bros. Looks like a blast.

I really want one but the HBO shop doesn't ship to Australia.
Try also have these mad "Khal" coffee mugs.....yeah, I like GoT and coffee, why wouldn't I want one?
I always wanted one of the shirts with the Baratheon house words on it. Ours in the Fury. Fuck yes. But then I realized that I don't really care for any of the Baratheons....and HBO wanted like $30 for the shirt, so I bought some beer instead. I do want to get my little girl a Khalisi onesie and I give exactly zero shits how much it costs to get one

colonoscopy (turriballll) came back with no cancer, and no threatening issues. woooooooooooooooot

so that's good

AND I just sent an offer for the amp. . . .
Great news man! Cancer can suck on the ball it left me.

Whisk, congrats on the clean bunghole!

Will, read the interview about the new album, very cool.

Wish I could have all you guys over to jam on cool gear. We need to figure out that teleportation thing. I'm sure Nick is working on that.
Yeah yesterday was a good time and I may do it again just as a "bring your cool shit and let people try it" event. We ended up doing a lot of that anyways. Special guests bass player was tearing up the 8 string Kramer, I'm tempted to sell it to him. I love that thing and dont want to sell it, but thinking about it, I dont use it except for once in a blue moon to mess around with, and he was really doing it justice, and would probably actually use it on the regular. Might be worth getting it into his hands just to hear the music he'd make.

Yeah, Robert was the only cool Baratheon, and even then he was a bit of a dick for sending the realm broke.
Awe, tiny Khaleesi....might look into that for my daughter as well.
Had no idea you had cancer. Fuck dude. You out of the woods now?

Yeah sometimes it's worth passing shit onto others for that very reason.
And yeah, regular meet ups for gear sluttage! Plus film it or record it for a thread so I can live vicariously through that shit.

Also, thinking of biting on an old CTS 15" speaker, potentially the same that sunn used to use way back. Anyone got the big knowledge?

the cts speakers in my LH sounded great @ 4 ohms.

then I rewired it to 16 ohms for the orange.

sounded great until the orange hammered 3 of them (prolly) at once, lighting one on fire. that was unfun.

Kuma's has some tasty burgers for sure! The Flat Iron is a cool bar the Emperor dudes took us too, couple Indian dudes worked there iirc. That area has a bunch of other bars as well. I'd track down a good Chicago-style pizza joint too. I've been to one but it was the touristy chain place, can't remember the name. I'm sure there's better if you google the subject.

As for guitar stores, Chicago Music Exchange is insane, like a museum of awesome gear and they aren't up your ass if you wanna try stuff. Rock and Roll Vintage is right down the street as well, smaller but cool selection, tons of pedals, and maybe even and EGC or two depending on timing. :thumb:

Thanks whiskers!
Yeah this will be going solo, into a 1x15 that I'll hafta DIY up, but paired with my orange 212, which I'll hafta to get placement speakers for to get it to 8 ohms....not sure what to get there, might parallel the two 16 ohm Sheffields I got from summit for now, but I don't wanna fuck with the stock wiring, which means two 4 ohms....kinda want something more chugga chugga to go with the big round sound the 15 will give me.
Was gonna run the cabs in parallel for the 4 ohmage.

That sounds like it would've copped donkey dicks. I don't think I'll have that problem at fifty watts max output.

My thoughts exactly. They did a print called 'And Rhagar Died' which pretty much sums up the badassery that was Robert Baratheon. Amazing warrior, but shit king. And he let the fucking Lannisters ruin him. I kinda hope one of his bastards plays a role later in the series and is some crazy drunken warrior like him.

And yes, pretty much all nerdy daughters need some Khaleesi gear.

Yeah. I had ye olde cancer of the ball six years ago. It sucked, but I just do yearly bloodwork and check in with my oncologist now, so I am technically out of the woods. Like 99.3% or something like that.

Ok, bearing these things in mind....now wondering how long in might last....still optimistic given I'm playing drop A guitar, max 50w output spread across two boxes....right?

I'm gonna hafta suss this print, sounds killer!
Lannisters....
I'm thinking at least one of kids will.
And yes, all daughters of the grass sea must claim their heritage of blood, with arakh in hand!

That suck man, but I'd say 99.3% and yearly checks will keep you in the sweet spot.

Edit: that print is badass.
War hammer to the face, mother fucker!
