Looking for beer bars, restaurants, record stores, guitar stores, etc. And places to go in general! Going to Kumas and The Chicago Diner, probably Local Option, Hopleaf, and a couple others. And stopping by Three Floyds on our way in/out. But anyone got suggestions?
Kumas and Floyds are my staples when I go to Chicago. I don't actually give a fuck about things though and live for the metal so these two places generally satisfy urges to do other things. Also because money. Last time when I went to Chi-town I had to decide whether to eat Kumas or watch Doomriders. Kumas is forever. Doomriders, that's once in a blue moon. Really wanted that Ghost burger. Red wine reduction, yous guys.

Did anyone notice on the commercial for the RX drug Crestor, there is an Orange amp and cab in the living room?

Yeah I remember seeing that commercial and thinking to myself, "Everything in this commercial is orange, they should have an Orange amp" and then there it was. Over/under on someone behind that commercial being a secret doombro?

I've been listening to the Game of Thrones audiobooks and a ton of the first two The Sword albums recently. Good choices all around.

Missed quite a bit over the last few pages, but there have been some shit hot amps and songs posted.

Yeah man! It was such a moment of complete nerd joy when I found that out. I feel like a few of the songs at least reference GoT - Maiden, Mother, and Crone and Winter's Wolves specifically.

LOUD!!!

Was pretty much the theme of the day.

We had these-

to run these through-

D also brought the case.

Had about 10 people here over the course of the day, and that was very cool as different sounds and combinations of sounds were unleashed by the various approaches to things.

The one I was most surprised with was the Left hand Path HM2 derived thing. fucking a Nick. You are a madman. Got a lot of sounds out of it that were unexpected. HM2 sounds? check, Blatty fuzzed tones? Yep.

Volthrower on 18v has me thinking I need a new power supply for when mine gets here. Holy balls.

ODB had some seriously great sounds coming out of it. Sean from Special Guests (yes that's the bands name) dialed in this crushing yet still sweet, huge sound with that. he def found the sweet spot.

All the pedals sounded great, Shrine Fuzz was a big hit with guitar and bass. GT120 is as advertised. The Wizard and Cthulhu fuzzes are just massive. really a treat to try all this stuff out.

We ended up with some oddball stuff that got played with in addition to the dunwich box, verellen preamp, D's breifcase proto, some weird fuzz and lots of different guitars.

I'm thinking this should be something that gets repeated as a tool to show off and try out different gear from time to time. An interesting thing was that some of the pedals that were just great, went to holy shitballs awesome depending on who and what was creating the signal. It kind of went beyond "check out this cool shit!" and became educational, at least for me.
We had reps from 5 bands here and went over a ton of gear. thanks to all who came down, had a blast.
Mike, dat Dunwich! I'm going to have some quality time with that tomorrow. I mean, after that volume pot gets a cleaning I'll need to conduct extensive testing, you know, to make sure it's properly cleaned and all ;)

So I've got 6-7 hours of audio recorded from it all, not sure we'll get demo's but I may try to edit it all down to a highlight reel. I think Cory nailed the demo's already.

Good shit. My ears are WHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

OK, I'm cool with that....but holy shit, saying "very fucking cool shit that mad wizard is brewing." does not help my impatience to see this beast.
I got to fuck around with my dirt again this arvo and just had fun cranking the fuck out of the volume on all the BAT stuff. Previously I hated the Ape Blaster paired up with anything, but I cranked the FAC on the BF, dimed the volume and lowered the gain to nothin, used the EQ to shape the AB and, fuck, VERY thick, a little too fizzly and farty around the edges, borderline clipping, but I think the MIG might cope better than the loaner Hiwatt I have right now.

I love pedals.
I love dirt pedals.

I just wanted to say that.
