My main guitar amp is a Carvin DCM 2000, yeah that's 2000 watts, so... SSLUV4EVR

I was leaning towards tube for a long time (and I still love tubes) but I am thoroughly enjoying my solid state Sunn Concert Lead since I got it the other day. I haven't owned a solid state in awhile. For some reason I assumed that overdrive pedals sound like crap through a solid state, but tonight I tried it with the Sunn's dirty channel and it actually sounded really good.

I am not familiar with this phrase, "enough" guitar gear. Is that like, when you get a new piece of gear and you immediately think "I bet that other piece of gear I don't have would go really well with this one"? :idk:
 OK OK you got me. I just have enough guitar gear to play / record any kind of punk-hardcore-grindcore-power violence-sludgecore-funeral doom I'd want to play. But have no dedicated bass rig, so I need to GET THAT BEFORE GUITAR STUFFS. Tomorrow random pedals n stuff go on eBay to get the bass rig bought.

Unless I find an Ampeg SS150 first.

You know, I hate to interrupt the SS Man orgy, but I just want to point out that some of the modern tube amps have gotten really good at emulating that classic solid state sound. Some of them sound great with pedals. Better even.
