Day 10 of the Malekko Ekko 600D hunt, base camp: SUCCESS! After a perilous day looking for the temple we found it and the sparkling green treasure within, and almost entirely by accident! After dinner, the search party was discussing the best route back to camp when one of our best men shouted-out from the other side of the canyon. Completely unaware that our search party had split up, we immediately pursued the source of our companion's increasingly erratic cries.

As we drew closer, it seemed as though the sound grew harder to hear, between the setting of the sun and the trees pressing closer we had to light torches. The sound had become very faint indeed and was now barely audible, and appeared to be emanating from a small stone-lined opening at the base of the mountain-side. It had become clear at this point that we were not alone. Our colleague appeared to have been dragged into this opening by a group of men. Who they were or what their intentions were, had not become clear yet, though it seemed their intentions towards our colleague were of a dubious nature.

Not knowing what lie in the apparently fabricated cave we elected to send some of party back to the base camp to get more supplies while I pressed on with the remaining number. The man-made opening of many years past did not turn or split but ran straight, seemingly to the heart of the mountain. At a point, some two miles in, the tunnel began to widen and it was here that we found our man MEC. He indicated that a rival team had found this place and dragged him in to silence his cries! I left the rest of the men to tend to him and pressed on alone.

The tunnel continued miles widening further and further. Suddenly the walls and ceiling quickly dissipated into the horizon and a sparkling light of of green like the first grass in spring filled the area, as did something else sound. Inside the sound were voices and cries that warped and fell back on themselves, it was as though, through some trick of architectural genius, the chamber created acted as a sort of echo/reverberation enhancer. Sound and light didn't dissipate in here, they became blended into a larger entity that enriched and uplifted my spirits and provided a means of lighting the chamber without an external source. It was now apparent that this was the temple and somewhere within lay the green sparkling treasure.

In the center of the chamber were three large pedestals of solid aluminum and the light was intense enough to obscure any sort of center or fine detail. The rival group had set-up camp in this room and were apparently attempting to decifer the runes etched into the floor near the pedestals. I immediately recognized the pedestals as larger versions of the controls on the artifact, and their purpose was clear. I immediately ran to the third of these and twisted it to the far left. The room was immediately thrown into darkness except for a residual green glow from the opposite side of the pedestal knob. I thrust my hand in, pulled out the artifact and ran for the opening to the world outside of this eerily mechanical room.

In the confusion the rival team was not able to to find the opening before me and I was able to make my way towards the outside long before they caught up with me. My group had prepared to dynamite the opening to trap the rival team inside, and once I was outside they did so. And we made our way back to camp having found the temple of infinite ambience and obtained the treasure within: the Malekko Ekko 600D.

Long story short. Hey guys, I got that ekko pedal I that I'm stupidly excited about!

I feel like I would obliterate strings with metal picks. And not in a good way.

DUDE GET SOME!!! They sound really good and I'm not getting any clanginess just really good thick notes... I'm using it on my short scale Jag Bass and it's not tearing the stings up or anything... I got them for $1.00 each and want to go get some more black ones... The water textured one is cool for sliding sideways on the strings...

Hey... get one.
Get Taylor to mod it to be way louder, so you can crank the weird, quiet, in-between settings.
