jwar wrote:High output bass is high output. SO I fucking LOVE the Roscoe. OMG the tone is amazing. Seriously. Has TONS of growl, which means I almost don't need an OD. I still want one, but right now the Elements is covering the OD side of things. My only issue is the amount of bass from this fucker is causing my cab to act like a weak little bitch. It seems like it almost can't fucking handle that shit. Especially if I kick the Xerograph on or the Second Voice Deluxe. I...I think I need a better cab or! If anyone has any other suggestions. Would an EQ pedal help? I mean I play around with the basses pre and the amps eq and get to what I dig and it's just over-driving the fucking shit out of my cab. Soooooooooooooooooooooooo yea....help?

So; do you have blown speaker? Blown Tweeter? Or are you just getting overwhelmed with bass frequencies. That was my only issue with my Avatar B410NEO. The cab just seemed naturally voiced to heavily in the bass and sub bass frequencies. And my Warwick can be really heavy on the bass frequencies as well. Tried with a number of amps; GK and Ampeg SS and Tube and while the tone was different,...that thump was still there. Could have been the NEO drivers or the design of the cab. I've never tried Avatar with conventional magnet drivers in it, so I have no basis for comparison. The tone would have worked well in a Dub or Reggae band, and sufficed in the work that I did with my bands; but I want a more authoritative and punchy bass tone. It would be nice to have both if I'm honest. Almost too deep for that rumble but not overpowering the mid and treble ranges.

sooooo.... i've been talking to the ordering guy/artist rep at Dingwall. looks like i'm finally ordering a second bass from them. they now do wenge necks so you can get the darker neck like i got with my ebonized walnut 'un. after checking all the colors available it was a toss up between the candy tangerine and the vintage white, going with the white 'cause the orange is really awesome, but a little Matchbox toy car looking. would have to see it in person to make sure it's not cheap looking.

's gonna pretty much look like this -

... but with the normal black bridge they do on the AB I's. they do something called an Iluminay for the fret marker inlay dots, i'm thinking about those on the side of the neck, waiting on a pic. if they don't look as nasty garish as LED inlays i might do that too.

oof. estimated build time went up from 3-4 months when i got my first 'un to 6 months now. gonna do the Start 'Er Up payment next week i think.

WOOOOOO!

Since you want a P, go for it. :thumb:

So I'm moving forward on this deal. Crazy thing is I've dealt with the guy with the bass before and he is legit; not scary. Traded a mim strat for some drum gear with him. I recognized the Italia Strap that is in the coffin case on the floor in one of those pictures.

A BWB 3 ply pickgaurd from All Parts is $22. I'm cool with that and it will wind up being my first "upgrade" along with a new set of strings. Then I'll determine if I want to hot rod further.

Oh and I just told Jared Lash aka The Big O this over on TB; Orange is such an underrated color. Tangerine; even moreso.

i do love orange. passionately. but something about the Candy Tangerine pics i've seen are minda off-putting to me.

i've always thought white basses look interesting. that and really dark grain ones like the Warwick you used to (still do?) rokk.

Behndy, my old Combustion was that Vintage White color and it is Awesome. At first I didn't think I was going to like it, but when I got it I really dug it. It is like a creamy parchment color and you can sort of see the woodgrain underneath, it is really cool.

Warwickah, I used to buy Mexi and Jap Fenders, fix them a bit and flip them. I may have a few spare parts laying around if you need anything.

i don't know shits about basses and don't really want loads of them, but the only other thing i would LOVE to have is an 6 string SG like Mike Watt's. this one....

.....but he used to have a blue circle either painted or stickered on. it's so fucking badass. HE'S so fucking badass.

:thumb: yeah I LOVE orange basses [and safty orange is in the running for that musicman I'm mucking with] but I googled that color and you know if you want that color I have a Soundgear 5 string [with a silver neck] body that is really similar that would be dirt cheap :thumb:

Still rocking the Warwick. Never letting go of that beauty. I feel like visually it's a bit dated at this point (PBasses and Jazzes are timeless IMO), but aside from the wallet I've had in my back pocket since high school,...this is probably the one possession that I've owned for any significant length of time (since summer 2000). Seen me through thick and thin. Been pawned once or twice,...but always paid off and gotten out of pawn. Crazy thing is it sounds better know than it did when I bought 13 years ago. Maybe I'm better,...more knowledgeable. But I know in my heart of hearts. It's the CKS strings.

I do like that dinger in white. I'm just very very very partial to all things orange. My zippo is orange. My EDC pocket knife is orange. Favorite coffee mug orange. Favorite hockey team,...rocks the orange. Yeah I have a favorite number too,...big whoop wanna fight about it. :)*

I might take you up on that. Let me get this thing in my hands I'll keep you posted. Definitely want to replace that ugly ass white pickgaurd though.

This is either a Bass VI (tuned like a guitar but an octave lower) or a Baritone (tuned down to like B standard in 4ths; like a guitar [don't quote me]).

I'd be all over this instrument like a little orange fat bee to a honey hive.

Oh gawd I want that guitar so bad. Don't know the story behind. Surely Gibson didn't make a whole lot of them; which means they pull five figures in one setting; without robbing your pension (or possibly with robbing your pension,...you didn't really want to retire right?)

lol. so, i hate short scale basses (NOT HAVING A NICE ROUND NUMBER OF FRETS MAKES NO SENSE TO ME) and i'd want fanned frets.... so i'd need Dingwall or somebody to do me a fanned fret and rip off that body type and the headstock.

GIMME.

inless the body was huge it would not balance... those things barely do as short scales...
