Weeee I get to see Big Business and Deafheaven on consecutive nights next week. And then a Lagunitas-hosted beer/music event the following week. CONTROVERSIAL OPINION ALERT Beer and music: good stuff. Discuss.

That is a swanky guitar.

Gotta see the badge on the headshell to really know if it's legit. Needs more pix.

If its a MGR in PA...then were gonna have a problem, my guitar player is gonna buy that!

Picked up a '74 straight marshall 4x12 tonight. Stripped, stained, original checker grill cloth and hardware, and what seem to be four matching, early 70's, nice looking but most definitely very blown, Rola Celestion Greenbacks, for $100 locally.

Any idea if and for how much I can flip the speakers? Even if I re-cone them my amps would just blow them again.

Yup! It's a really great guitar for the money. Feels very similar to my Les Paul (which is juuuuuust right) and the coil tapping is wonderful for switchin up dem tones. Stock pickups are good. Much better than the ones that came in my Epi LPC. Plus it looks hot. Chicks dig it.
What model did you end up with? I really really dig the look of the black/gold AR-220, but it doesn't have the same pickups that the higher models have.

the ones i've played have felt really nice. pretty good for an affordable korean guitar. at least i think they're korean. you can still track down MIJ ar-50's for a similar price if you look hard and they're nicer. less options, but overall a higher end vintage feel to them. nicer wood too. the reissues really are pretty sweet though.
That is definitely an option. And since I have zero gear money, it will give me time to search them out while I try and put together the cash for one.

Nice! I've always liked them, but recently decided that I needed one in my life some kinda bad.

I have the opportunity to grab aRed bear MKX 50 cub combo (1x12) for $300. I'd be replacing a Randall rg80es with it and running in stereo with a sunn beta bass. Probably run the red bear into external speakers for more push.

So anyway doom brethren... Is this a fair price, great deal, or too much?

pelliott wrote:What's a fair price you guys would pay for a VTM120?

I paid $350 (not including shipping). If I found one locally I would pay as much as $500 probably. But that is because I really like this amp and want them all now.
