So I've been playing with my dirt pedals that I have including my gemini and ect. I fucking love the ect in all of it's glorious awesomeness. Took a bit to dial in just right, but it plays and sounds so nice. Then I got my ppb back from wren and cuff (who btw have the quickest and easiest repair warranty ever!!!), and got to to an a+b with the ect and the ppb. Holy balls there is a huge amount of difference between the two. Where as the ect thumps and grinds along, the ppb has the incredibly massive low end with an almost synthy top end that sounds amazing with my p bass.
I also came to realize another great idea of having the clean blend on my ppb as well. Running the ect>ppb is pretty much the end all bass tone I have been looking for. Massive low end is handled by the ppb, and the ect cuts through with the mids and grunt.

lol. HATER ON DECK.
um. but. just don't.... use the clean blend?
and i kinda hate fuzzes without a clean blend. but i rarely play with other non-drummy humans. so i like to have like loads of bass bass coming through with the fuzzed bass and shits.
AND. SHITS.

Well my ECT has no clean blend and my PicklePB does. Does the PPB need it? Nah, and I really never used it too much before. But running the ECT>PPB really is fucking massive yet still cutting. I ran the PPB>ECT and the ECT was just overwhelmed and blown out by it. Same thing with the PPB's blend turned to 100% wet. The ECT easily overloaded it and it sounded weak and muddy. The blend in this case works wonders.

nice.
i mean, i don't even care. what works for you works for you. but for me a blend is kinda necessary on fuzzes. i like to hear some bass come through. makes me not worry as much about losing mids or getting into WALL OF FUZZ territory.
loooooooooooooooooooooove me some good clean blends. BriBri's got the best gates out there and Matty W&C does the best blends to me.

I do kinda miss the envelope(ish)/gate on my B:assmaster for staccato stuff already though. I may have to add another fuzz with a gate, or a gate itself to one of my pedals in the future...

assuming that the deal on the Kalamazoo goes through, i'm really curious to see which, if either, of the amps will be adequate for non-bong-rattling bass. one will be the Bass 30 with 7591s and two 10" jensens; the other is the Laney VC30, which may be better because it has low-frequency 12" greenbacks in. i figure a 1x15/2x15 will sort the bong-rattling for my current purposes.
lately i've been thinking of doing a duo project that'd be a drummer and effects guitar doing post-AACM free improvisation.
boy, am i ever going to revamp my board with three double-sixed boxes and the goodbye 24 coming. it looks like fuzz may be the major casualty. i have to see if i can eke a Tone Bender sound from the Buzzaround. and i just finished the fucking thing a couple of weeks ago after DAYS of testing, test-wiring, and figuring how to fit all that shit on a PT2. ah, First World Problems.

Gates are just as gross. It's the HIV to the AIDS that is clean blend.
You might as well just play AC/DC covers all night.

i'm a gater hater. i run the signal into my rack compressor as hot as i can because it has a "'smart gate" you can't turn off.
