It doesn't help when shit music stores won't let you turn up a 100w tube amp past talking volume and you're somehow supposed to judge if the amp is rad or not. Which it probably isn't because most music stores in my neck of the woods sell rubbish anyway.

I had an experience similar to this happen to me in a guitar shop in Dublin. I was interested in hearing the then new Vox 50 watt Night Train and an Orange Rocker 30. I wasn't playing loud. I just tried to reach that sweet spot without being selfish and causing distraction. There were no sound booths to practise, so I just thought, 'they'll deal with it'. But without even asking me, a store clerk walked up to the amp and turned it down and continued talking to a kid. I immediately got up and left. Fuck that noise (pun intended). They had a €4000 vintage Marshall stack in the corner and I thought to myself, you've got to a rich bastard to buy an amp like that without playing it beyond talking volumes.
