Those threads are always so much better to read after I've seen what you guys are saying about them here

Australian time differences mean I get the Talkbass moron highlights here first and then travel over there for 5 minutes of comic relief.

Hey Bros,
So, you guys may know I have started dabbling with Eurorack for sound processing. I have BARELY scratched the surface. This is some dangerous shit. I first looked into Euro about 6 months ago for pitch-to-CV conversion. There are some good modules for that. My original plan was to to get 2 modules for pitch-to-CV (one to turn my signal into a pure square wave because it tracks easier and the other to do the conversion) and use those to play a mintaur with my bass because all pitch-to-midi has been a let down for me.
Well, I now have one of those 2 modules(the one that does the squarewave and it does AWESOME FUZZZ to) and a few other modules (a wave shaper, one that lets me insert pedals into the eurorack where I want, and some that I can use expression pedals to send CV to other modules).
So I am at a crossroads. I CAN"T spend money out of my bank, PERIOD.
The euro stuff has amazing possibilities, stuff that pedals can't do. I did a hypothetical euro set-up for if I sold most of my pedals and put some of that money back in the bank ($400+), AWESOME set-up it would be but it would definitely not be anywhere near "done".
Then I saw a used Vermona Mono Lancet (similar to a minitaur, does some stuff it can't and there is a vice-versa too) and a Euro Control module for the Lancet for about the price of a new Minitaur. SO I GOT TO THINKING, originally I got into euro to do the pitch-to-CV, I could sell my MB SuperSynth, OC-2, and some fuzz and keep some fuzz and my Mobius and PitchFactor. I would get the synth sounds I want, I would have a little euro to process that sound with, as well as Mobius and PitchFactor for synth and non-synth stuff. I could do more euro as future monies allows.
Any opinions? Sensible compromise or not?

i have avoided analog module stuff for this very reason. so i have nothing constructive to add.
just....... YIKES.

I know Behndy, I know..
I will add that I am (and most of you know) pretty attached to getting synth sounds out of my bass, more than just plugging into a synth pedal allows. The project that I am most working on is me on bass doing synthy stuff, with a drum machine and when I learn it, adding a sampler into the mix too.
I still want to fuzz the fuck out and play more "normal" bass but the synth stuffs is more of a priority for me.

I've been kinda confused about the module stuffs (admittedly I wasn't paying full attention earlier, when you first started in on it all)...this is all analog hardware, not software?
And why does all the good shit appear just after I've drained my bass-funds account? I'd love to try a Megalith.

Well. some modules are analog, some are digital, some are both. It is easy to go all analog. I don't discriminate. Although I do have an analog synth.
I am thinking this over more. Going the Eurorack route is dangerous, it can be SUPER EXPENSIVE. I believe at the least, that I should put what I have away for a bit. I may sell it all but 2 modules and save them for when I actually have enough money to go this route. I can't just scrap most of my pedal board, it works really well for me. The idea was to get stuff to integrate with my board.

So this is all for-real hardware, not software emulations? That's what I wasn't sure of.

I wanna throw a Ric bridge pick-up in it.
It'd be pretty sweet, right? Right?
VALIDATE ME, PLEASE.
I'd LOVE to hear how that goes. I've thought about it before...

Is that the active OLP or the passive one?
