I really like my VH140C, and it's damn near new condition, but I tend to use my Laney or Traynor with pedals for grindy goodness these days. I keep an eye out for the SS150, but have never run across one. Guy in Na'kay uses one, and it sounded awesome. When you downsize, can I has dibs on one of yours?

Saw a SS130C (or 140?) in a pawn shop about three or four years ago, but it was beaten and way overpriced. Same pawn shop tried to sell me a broken Marshall 8100 for stupid money.

Usually pawn shops are the place to go to get cheap ones. it's a SS140c they didn't make 130's. The last one I bought was an Ampeg SS140c and Krank Krankenstein cab for 350 for both of them at a pawn shop. They just wanted to get em both out the door.

I use mine for everything grind, doom, death, black metal. They are just so versitle all you have to really both with is how you play the guitar.

And downsize? DOWNSIZE????? Shit I'm currently looking at getting more! When my power violence band plays live next I plan on sporting 4 rigs. all Ampeg SS140's or SS150's

I think that's about asking price now. If you really want it I say go for it. And though the guy said it's exactly the same as a VH140... it's not. they are very very similar but the VH has more of a piercing high gain while the SS has a bit more of a warmer one. I don't really use the chorus so that part doesn't bother me. It's a great head and lasts forever. I've had one drop out of the back of a truck and it still worked. Solid monster beasts. I have quite a few sound samples on youtube if you want to hear it.

and say I had to start over from scratch... I'd snatch both of them up in a heartbeat.

Wish there was a pawn like that. Maybe in Milwaukee? The Pawn America here is pretty crapulent for gear.

LOL on using the "D" word with you. I'd like to see your PV band using that many rigs tho!

Barracuda, I'd probably hit one of those too. $350 is going rate, and after it's been over by a good tech, very worth it.

There's a les paul 'voodoo' around these parts now too. Thanks, I figured I'd still keep an eye out. Maybe if I had offered meth in the first place, I'd have the amp.

Yea you probably would've gotten it then. That's a crying shame cause they are such good amps and most likely it'll be turned over and over for meth and pawn before it gets properly used.

The pawn shop I got that rig at was in Asheville, I was up there for work and just a random idea to stop in and see and I looked and went... well someone stole my rig at home and brought it up here. Couldn't pass it up for that.

And I'll post pics and video when the show happens! I'm excited to do so. Last time I set up to run just 2 rigs the venue's pathetic electrical has just about everything ran off a single outlet. didn't realize that at the time cause there was just a cord ran for the amps and I was getting all kinds of horrible feedback and interference. I ended up just using one Ampeg SS150 with 2 Kustom 215's. After I cleared out I saw the line I was on was ran back to the same one that was running the lights, the PA, the fucking everything. I about flipped.

I think the Voodoo models came with a case that kinda looked like snakeskin or something and it looks badass. I don't know if I'd give $900 without the original case.

I probably would, but I have an unreasonable lust for the Voodoo models. Too bad I don't have the cash on hand, since this one's quite close. There are a number floating around on eBay, though, including at least one SG and I think a V as well.

The Voodoo concept is a natural fit for the SG, imo.
