that is beautiful.

it reminds me of the story about the violinst (i think from the Prague Philharmonic?) that was in a company tour, on an off day went woth a stradivarius and played in a subway for a few hours. no one knew who he was, so a lot of people that would pay good money to see that type of performance walked past him, too busy to stop. but he said some people stopped and listened and were moved by it.

sooooo.... i've never done any orchestral stuff. but i kinda hate conductors. am i missing something? aren't these highly trained musicians that know their parts? everybody in that vid seemed to being doing fine before Look At Me I'm Wearing Yellow Compared To Everybody Else Dressed Darker fucko started jazz handing for attention.

are they that necessary? they always remind me of meh singers in bands where the musicians are working their asses off. you KNOW in an interview that conceited fuck is going to answer any question like, "when i'm writing the music.....".

on a totally unrelated note, Paulsy and i have decided we need a singer, someone that can play a little bit and fit in. i am very much looking forward to the process of finding the right person.

VERY MUCH SO.

I think the primary purpose of a conductor is to hopefully keep everyone in the orchestra coordinated with everyone else...that may be a simplistic explanation, but given that some arrangements are SO complex, an overall 'guide' can help with things like the strings coming in/going out at the proper moment(s), etc.

The violinist in the subway story is true, btw.

iiiiii guess. i just wonder though. there are some crazy complex bands out there that don't need someone telling them what to do.

but yeah. at that level maybe.... dunno.

still. attention hogging fuckers that barely do anything. THAT'S MY FEEL.

They should know everybody's parts. Look at conductors as the glue that holds the orchistra together.

I usually think of it as a musician<->instrument relationship, where the conductor is playing the musicians and adding his/her own touches to the piece by way of emphasis.

I was going to buy an MTD 435 but was just a little shy of the funds I needed and plus I can always trade this beauty for it later if I decide to. I've always wanted to try a Roscoe too. So this is awesome for me. Plus, not only is it an active, it's an 18v active! Ahahahahahahaha! Lots of growling coming!

Very nice. Very nice, indeed. :excellent:

If a Dingwall had a graphite neck.....18v preamp......then maybe it'd be a'ight. Maybe. Lawlzzzzzz. But yeah, that's a beauty. Those 18Vs are Saweeeeeeet but it does do some weird stuff to OD and fuzz. I've got Danny working on an answer to that. Then it's the best of both Worlds.

And fuck Ampsmeg.
