I wouldn't feel so bad about politely responding to the passive aggressive emails. They are probably cut and paste emails to dozens of bands telling them to fuck off every week.

There are some absolute scumbags called Emergenza here in Australia running (band funded) competitions. A great and very well known band got their spam and responded very well -

As for the 5er. I never really needed my 5string much for the first 10 years I had it. It just lacked clarity, punch, and definition. It was cool to tune it to D so that I didn't have to change mid set....or for a long droney note. But I couldn't play any actual licks on it.

Then I got a fEARful cab and the Glockenklang Blue Soul head. My fucking B string has all the clarity, punch, and definition the other four do. Totally changed everything.


And we don't really do "pay to play" down here. The bands just split the draw. Which is usually shit and all goes to visiting bands for gas because we're nice like that. Losers' Reunion was getting into the big place to play down here pretty regularly which paid $750.......the place would be PACKED.....but it was a strange crowd. All drinking. No one looking at you. The choices down here are play for no money to 20 people who pay close attention to you or (when you "make it locally") play to 150 who when leaving will say "there was a band there?"

And I would bet money that that response Behnder's Paulie got was a mass copy and text thing that douchecanoe sends to anyone who turns them down. Whether it applies or not.
