I can't see the whole pic (goddamn phone!). That's the Yamaha SG? Man those things are killer. Little Mom and Pop store near me has this sexy fucking Anniversary Edition. It's a heavy sonofabitch, plays and sounds amazing, but it's like $2600 and they won't flex a bit on price. Probably why it's been there like 3 years now...

live-i-evil wrote: The Wizard was so fucking sweet sound and SUPER loud, coming from a guy with my gear you know that means something. It sounded like a mix between a Hiwatt and a Marshall Plexi. I should have taken pictures of the board before I sold it in case I ever wanted one again and not pay an arm and a leg for it. That being said, I bought it for $1700 and the guy I traded it to has had it on the TGP classifieds since like 3 days after he got it cause it was way too loud. He won't put a price on it and just mentions that it retails for 3400 but I bet he might even take like 1500 just to be done with it

FUCK makes me wanty so bad. ive got some cash coming to me soon so im lookin into a "super marshall" or just more jmps.

1st world problems ftw.
I hate to be "that guy" but a licensed bigsby? arent those guitars like not cheap amount of dollars? I would be after a real deal. . . .
UNLESS that was a cost saving compromise you and or the builder made then I understand wholeheartedly.
but yeah. . . . .

Yeah I'm not sure how to size pics on this board, a lot of them end up cut off for me too. It's an '81 Yamaha SBG500.
There's a ton more pics that the seller sent me. This guitar went up for sale a year ago and I didn't pull the trigger... dumb... so I spent a year searching CL and eBay for Yamahas but never found something as nice.
This year it came up for sale again on the SRL board so I pulled the trigger. No regrets. There's a few dings but it's a real player. It's been loved over it's 33 years and played a lot based on the fret wear and the way some paint is worn off near the binding around the 2nd and 3rd fret thumb side and first fret where your first finger goes.
Really cool to have a guitar that's been played a lot over it's life and didn't just sit in a case. Nice to see compared to my '92 Gibson SG that was really messed up when I found it, what a bummer. It was mistreated, knocked over, neck cracked and fixed, dings in the back of the neck, headstock and all over the body. Covered with stickers when I got it. I hate it when people treat old guitars like shit.
Anyway here's some more pics of the Yamaha. I don't know the scale length but it feels like a 25.5" to me. Might be psychological, haven't measured or anything but it takes a B standard tuning easily with somewhat bigger strings but not ridiculous.

Comfort cutaway (does nothing lol, doesn't make it light either):

Bigsby produces both lines. The only difference is the "Real" Bigsby uses sandcasting which takes more time and labor to polish while "Licensed" stuff is die cast which lowers production cost. I've owned both and they sound and function identically. Considering it's only a spring and lever, not very high tech, I imagine you're paying for the Bigsby name sans "Licensed" stamped on it too.
Anyway, I wanted a brushed finish and we weren't sure how it would turn out or if it would ruin the part so I just went with a less expensive version I'd already owned and used for years. Worked out well, functions fine. Rolled the money I saved over into the satin Schaller parts which had to be direct ordered from Germany since US dealers only offer chrome, nickel, gold, and black.

RE Univibes, I've tried the Pickle Vibe which while sounding good is really just a tuned phaser with no dry signal. I was quite impressed with the Fulltone and I've no built a couple of the Madbean Harbinger One pcbs which seems really close to the Fulltone in sounds and functionality. One thing I've found is that when tuning them they can be set to sound quite a few different ways so finding the best tuning can be fairly tough, as in too many choices. I've enjoyed tuning them for an almost tremolo effect which is quite thumpy but the magic is getting that 3D like swirl as the four LDRs react to the bulb.

For serious. I was telling a buddy about it a few days ago but didn't want to dig through pages to find it. We've been affectionately calling it the "Phrygian Cab" despite its otherwise Egyptian nature.
In other news... Picked up an EQD Sea Machine in trade. Any doom roomers using chorus effectively? I know deathmonkey didn't get down with the modulation. I'm not sure where I'll fall with it but trading gear is cool by me. Something I had an excess of for something I don't have seems sweet.
Also, where do you guys like this stuff in your chain? I have my Organizer after dirt. Anybody using an Organizer, like it before/after dirt? What about Chorus stuff? What should I know. I don't normally fucks with this stuff.

Can you guys stop posting sexy dual cutaways? That's like my favorite guitar shape ever (plus I'm a sucker for Tobacco Burst) and it's giving me some serious inferiority complex sadness boners.
As far as chorus go, I used mine at the end out of necessity (PVY KVLT MARK CHORUS FTW) to get a little sonic youth-y during the obnoxiously long Floor-Eyehategod BEEEEEEEP feedback riffs in days of yore.

I just got my Small Clone today actually. Not gonna post a pic of it though because it would tarnish the streak of awesome new gear that everyone is posting. I run mine after all of my delays to get some pretty cool modulation on them, My favorite combo is the DE7 going into the Small Clone. Before or after dirt, that is just a matter of taste.
EDIT: Forgot to comment about the Organizer. I had one before and from what I remember I ran it before dirt. I'm not positive but I think I did. I remember it sounded good both ways but I've always ran octave stuff pre dirt to get better tracking. If you could dial the warble out that pedal would have been a keeper for sure.

I never had chorus on my board until I got the Mooer Pitch Box, which in Detune setting does a chorus effect. I flipped it on by accident and was pleasantly surprised. I have it first in my chain which is great because it doesn't overshadow the rest of my pedals (all dirts and delays).

I use to use a chorus pedal...always on cleans, which i really liked...and for sometime i used it very slightly as an always on pedal. It does add a little something which at the time i really liked. I always use to place it right after my dirt pedals before any other mod or echo pedals.
