I guess if you're a touring pro, it makes sense to be able to MIDI-slave a synth module with your Rhodes, but it's not something that appeals to me personally. I honestly didn't even notice the MIDI ports, because I was admiring that 'grape sparkle' top.

No it definitely makes sense - I'm just being lame. It goes against simplicity of these instruments, but if you really like the keybed on the Rhodes, then why get another controller.

Yea, it's also $3400 on...clearance.

If it was $2k I'd have grabbed it instead of my new white one a few weeks back!

If I had that much money, I'd get something full custom.

I immediately found that G&L, ouch. Probably a fair price for what it is, but if it had been within a certain budget I might have bought it right now. It does make me really want to do a parts build though. I keep creeping closer and closer to doing a candy/sparkle purple parts build on something, with a single ply black pickguard/knobs/hardware.

Yeah, I think anything I (or anybody else) post(s) in this thread is safely outta my price (Prince?) range.

Most of what I can swing is through the miracle of managing cash flow and allowing myself one toy at a time on credit.

Unfortunately, my best credit options are direct from a couple retailers, meaning it's something that they have to have or can get.

And only one thing has been purple thusfar in that realm.

Past that, my cap is well under any Gibson I'd buy by a factor of three or four

Normally everything is out of my budget, but I actually managed to sell a piece of gear lately for more than $1k. So I can feel it burning a hole in my PayPal balance. Even though I really need to remodel my basement into a more suitable jam/recording space.
