Not to rain on our parade, but is it going to rain on our parade? I mean, that nuclear reactor thing is a little ways south of Seattle, and November is about when it starts raining pretty heavily in this part of the country. Someone once told me it only rains once a year here, it starts in November and ends in May. Is the cooling tower protected from the rain?

Washington rains a lot, but it's usually light rain. Nothing a tarp can't handle. The cooling tower itself is open air, but the other facilities at the nuclear plant are covered, like the reactor room or the massive tunnels.

Something else to consider: local amplification.

Aye, Is anyone local to Seattle Area? I used to live out there, and unfortunately my mom is moving and just threw out my old shitty peavey. I usually just get a pawn shop junker. when I visit now. We could rent. I could bring the hardware rack modeler I use at home, and then all we'd need are a power amp and cab. If we get a PA, I could hack it to handle a mic, instrument, 2 line, and 2 inst/line signals simultaneously. We could also use my mtl.asm Fewtility One mixers to turn any instrument input into a up to 6 inputs.

Also of note, the nuke city is only a 2 hour drive from Portland, we could do this from pdx and just drive up for the day.

Still waiting to hear back, but further research has shown that as of 3 years ago( before transformers) they were charging about $1000 as a base price to access ALL their facilities for a full day. But they have charged as little as $150 for small bands and projects. So depending on how the talks go, this could be actually affordable.

An, just to reiterate. The drive is actually about the same to the site from Portland or Seattle. So, if we do this, Portland should be the home base.

I can drive some amps up. I couldn't be more stoked for this.

My amp is a tiny 5w tube thing, I do have plans to upgrade it to a 44w solid state and run it like a PA for my keys/sampler/guitar. Though, I don't think it would keep up with the kind of volume folks here crave.

Huge rooms with lots of reverb = loud. Bring a small amp or you'll end up dragging a huge amp only to set it to 1. Play too loud and all the frequencies will just melt into a whooly mess.

whooly = wooly + holy? do we not want that?
Can we get an "unwhooly" mess?

'Whooly' sorta blew my mind, too. Like how some people mistakenly say 'taken for granite' instead of 'taken for granted'...but it still kind of works...?

No one actually says that, do they?

I'm totally blanking on my favorite one of those, but it's a good one. I think it has to do with precedent, maybe? 110% blank.
