I'm at that point that I always hit with drones where I think "Oh, cool - this is totally long enough..." and then realize it's not even half the length it really should be.

Although, to be fair, I'm so ingrained with the pop-music-time-limit aesthetic that that point is usually around the 3 minute mark for me. So there's plenty of room for embiggening...

Recording feels very strange to me. I have to think a totally different way than my normal work flow goes with music. I've been experimenting with a few things but I have nothing concrete yet.
I've also got a couple pieces of gear on the way that I'd like to use in this project

This happens to me all the fucking time. Especially since my de facto workflow is using my own drones as samples, I always have to fight the urge of fiddling with it as it's getting created because it's never going to be long enough when I have to put the thing together proper.

Yeah, I was getting happy with the stuff that I laid down other than the length. So I figured out a solution: chord changes! I'll have chord changes! Crazy talk, I know.

So now I just have to record some more drones in a different key or two...

And so it begins. It's a fucking mess of cables though.

Chain: Bottom right to left, top left to right (raptio at the end). Expression to BitQuest. (dirty pitch shift? maybe)

Umm, if I can still throw my hat in the ring, I will submit something. If not, no big deal. Saw it mentioned a few times, just looked for the first time. Gotta start looking in other sections of ILF more, haha

Yo, drone doesnt always have to be long winded. If you like something that's 30 seconds long, cool. Of course if you want it longer, back to work, but I don't think drone needs to be long by necessity.

Well look at this guy mr Napalm Death of drone here.

I think drone has some element of stasis implied, but I agree that there's no real limit one way or the other.

Yeah I've recorded some stuff I love but on listening back I was way too impatient and did too much tweaking. The drone speaks for itself.

Thankfully haven't dismantled the chain so should be able to do it again fairly easily.
