The thread on that page was deleted so you wont be able to find it. Seems like the credibility of the guy who posted the pictures was questioned because he had built a few amps himself and was thinking about starting a company. So the bad build of the Hovercraft was irrelevant because people thought the guy was trying to put down a possible competitor if he does go into business.

Hmmmmmm somehow I really really don't doubt that exact conclusion to be correct. He's done some shady stuff before with his pedals and just the way he presents himself really turns me off.

It's been closed to new members so you can't find it unless sent a link. If you post in the ILF group on FB I'm sure someone could send you a viable link.

Hard to come to a conclusion about an entire product line when the sample size that is being observed is N = 1.

Why would I buy a Hovercraft when I've already got a vintage Orange? That'd be like buying a framed sketch of a sports car when you've already got a real one sitting in your garage.
If you have no intention of buying a Hovercraft, than why the interest? Don't get it...

I think that's a good take if we were talking about a part failure or a bad tolex job or maybe a broken pot or something. But I make a much stronger judgement when the builder is gluing seemingly random parts to the board that are not in the circuit and adding scraps of paper with weird threats to inside of the amp. It seems unlikely to me that a builder would only do that to one amp and risk it getting out of his shop.

There were other folks in the thread that said they had amps with questionable stuff inside and then one other guy who said the PCB had Hovercraft printed on it so I'm waiting to see more pictures. I dont know why folks fear the wrath of the builder. Its not like any repairman couldn't get the various SLO copies Hovercraft mods in working order if something goes wrong.

fair enough, I just have heard lots of talk but not lots of walk regarding this topic.

It doesnt help that a few of the builders in there ramping up the heat are not exactly transparent about there builds either. I have seen loads of questionable wiring jobs esp at the price people sell things at. Its smacks of hypocrisy.

Plus, putting out a hit video like that without first trying to clear the matter with the company is pretty unprofessional. Its not something you would do unless the company spit in your face.

That's true. Although it sucks that the people who know what they are looking at are viewed with suspicion when they post stuff like this because all the folks that are afraid to either a.) devalue their investment, or b.) make the builder angry, will never post pictures of low build quality.

If I was going to bother modding cheap amps like Hovercraft does I would make a point of leaving them cleaner on the inside than I found them. I haven't seen one but Im sure the Verellen modded Jet City amps were much cleaner on the inside than the mods shown in this thread.
