i guess i picked the wrong thread to quit sniffing glue .

on a note , i read an interview with RD in a womens publication . there was a statement that was something to the effect of " do you perceive that you are sometimes judged as being uninformed or substandard because of your appearance and gender " ?

the response was kind of all " yes , so i make effort to really know my stuff and if i see this sort of attitude coming , i will make a statement that illustrates the fact that i am much more than just a pretty face and i do infact rule , i try to try harder because i have to , because it isnt fair , a lot of times , for us cuteys " . ( not a quote at all , just what i can remember but pretty close in essence )

i thought to my self , wow , i like her attitude , and i can see that could be prevalent and frustrating to deal with .

then recently in one of the news thing videos , she called joe gagen "joe goo gone " and mentioned "wilma " capacitors , so i was all ohhhh ! but ... man i am being such a weenie as i have always enjoy RD's work , and comparing her to some of the others , she was always a treat and i dont mean that in a sexy way , she was just good . also , the guys always responded really well to her , which is just the way things are in this world , so more power to her .

on the chauvinistic side of things , i felt the decision to "doll up a bit" for this news show thingie was a bit contrary to the overall theme of what she discussed in the womens magazine interview , and preferred the old " plain jane" RD to the malibu deluxe i am seeing recently . i also understand how it is a new thing , its not pg , and its completely understandable , seeing how we are indeed ,so constantly judged by our appearance , that this would indeed be the correct approach atm .

heres to you RD and your husband , may you find success and happiness in everything you do . you two could babysit Goostie (our cat ) anytime , but he prolly wouldnt like you very much , unless you watched stephen kings "cats eye" with him , and fed him a few shrimpy treats . if he goes in the bathtub , dont worry thats where he time travels so ...

my ole lady ( get the irony? ) does a fantastic over the top RD impersonation , which is NOT a turn on for me . ( instant raging H.O. ) but she is the jealous type , Gomti got pissed when i commented on patty and selma's ear rings , so ...

the ted nujunt one with the other "young lady" really creeped me out though so ... i spose i really am a huge f . no offense to f's , i actually have one in my real name . so op amps or discreet ? who wants to arm wrestle ? seen any good demos lately ? recommend me a non functioning schematic ? anyone ??

This thread makes me sad.
'Cause I think Rebecca Dirks' stuff is great. She has managed to find a job in the music industry, even if it is the tone report, it is something.
Also, Dwarfcraft is awesome. Aen and his family do great things with circuits, and they also have found a way to become involved with the music scene.

So everyone calm your shit down. Stop the butthurt cycle!

I mean, didn't she already have a better job in the music industry when she was doing interviews for premiere guitar? I'm also a bit surprised at how personal things got :erm:

I just wanted to add to this a bit. I am in the minority here because I agree with you. LOL

I will say this though. Not all men on here are pigs. Sure we joke about stuff regarding women, sexual and whatnot but it's all in jest (at least on my part). I try not to take things too seriously (even though sometimes I do get pissed) on here. Now some people say some pretty offensive and down right nasty shit here. It does get old. That's when I PM Tom or Pumpkin Sexy man, cause those guys are my bros. Love them.

So anyway. I love women, was my point.

I just want to say that you guys have known me for six years and I have, to my knowledge, never been cruel or unfair to any of you. I am,to be 100% honest, quite sure I have aspergers in that I honestly don't think of the vulgar things I say as capable of offense since there is rarely any genuine malice behind them. I am forever the Devils advocate like that. I never mean to make anyone feel unwelcome or singled out and if I do all you have to do is tell me.

So the other day I was reading a fanzine from 1996 with an interview with Noothgrush where the drummer was talking about all the sexist and demeaning shit she deals with daily from people in other bands. Then I posted a video on Facebook of one of their recent shows since they've gotten back together and started playing again, and the first five comments were along the lines of how hot she is or isn't, not how awesome they still are, how rad a drummer she is or how dope it is that Noothgrush are back playing shows. 17 year gap, same old shit.

It must really, really suck to be a woman who wants to play music. It's been nearly two decades since I saw bikini kill and shits still the same. It doesn't even make me angry anymore, just really, really sad.
