Re: Esoterics // Superstition
Yea, really depends on how you use the deck as far as what symbolism or approaches end up being relevant.
It's a miniature "universe in pocket" ceremonial magick tool for me, not for introspection, not for divination, but rather the temple in miniature that I can lay out and use as needed.
Puts me at odds with most end users, but hey, what else is new.

Would start straight off with "Marriage of Heaven and Hell", combining some of his best work across the board.
You'll spot more band names, song titles, et cetera than sin.
In pop culture, if you're amused by Blake, check out Jarmusch's "Dead Man" - a very well done Western with Depp as William Blake, an accountant mistaken for the actual William Blake, on a tale of misadventure, mysticism, and vengeance. Bonus points for very loud, atmospheric fuzz-drenched Neil Young electric only - no vocals - soundtrack.

This is what I use tarot for. Not that I dont believe in the possibility of precognition but for me they have always been a ritual tool. That is why I tie it so heavily to the tree of live which is in itself a microcosm of the macrocosm.

Dead Man is awesome! Have you ever listened to US Christmas? If you liked Neil Young's soundtrack to that film, you'd probably like them.

Yea, added a couple of their albums to my buy list, bastard mix of twiddling with tape echoes and Hawkwind on the first Youtube link I found.
Can't argue with that.

Definitely, a turning point was the Swiss occultist Oswald Wirth ho studied occultism with Stanislas de Guaita. De Guaita was later to have influence on Papus who wrote an important study in occult tarot, and Eliphas Levi took on from there, having an important influence on the Golden Dawn and Aleister Crowley. And so on.

Yeah Crowley claimed to be the reincarnation of Eliphas Levi

oof. Yup. I looked at some his Tarot. Egypt and Kabbalah. I'm just so used to the color symbolism in the restored Marseilles deck..... Not to mention that I think (maybe?) this is the first appearance of a goat-headed devil. In the original Marseilles deck the devil is way different.

Mmmm perhaps. I would have suspected Wirthe was the first to imply this imagery - since the original Marseilles deck has the traditionally grotesque devil face - but I can just as well be plain wrong.
