My band covers "Xanadu"! Let me see if I can find a shitty link to a shitty video!
[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/14551017[/vimeo] <----how do you imbed that?
It's only our 3rd show, so PLEASE skip ahead to 15:00 for the Wings' "Jet" straight into "Xanadu" (which is SPOT ON), and excuse the shitty audio/video quality (captured by an old blown out hippie who loves any kind of "footage") and remember that we're drunk and also listen for a Fuzzhugger AB-Synth 5k and a Devi US Fuzz! (before I got my Algal Bloom)
And if THAT doesn't kill this thread, then nothing can.

that was actually really well done, woodman. impressive

Had to come back from my self-imposed weeklong ban that has been in effect for four hours to say THANKS! I'm always surprised when other people are into ELO... obviously I shouldn't be!

p.s. Also, since I'm on a self-ban for a week, I'm killing this thread FOR GOOD. No more posts. It's dead.

lol, my "week" long self-ban only lasted two days.
Also, ELO rules! Fire on High is such a kickass song.

I always think of that guy who got killed by a hay bale when ELO is mentioned...
I guess it makes me dick that I laughed when I read about it.

I just spent around 10 minutes trying to come up with a pun based on hay/straw involving an ELO song. I couldn't. What is this hay bale story though?

I try to create the subject or the scene from my subconscious and of course the conscious. the images are equally vague but less contrived and calculated.
so impressionism to a degree

I finally got my iPhone today, so in my excitement I'm sacrificing this thread's life to Steve Jobs.

I'm going to inject this thread with some mad life...
What is the difference between surrealism and absurdity? Discuss.

Oh man, now you're gonna get me going. I know this one, no problem!
One starts with a consonant, the other a vowel.

Surreal literally means something non-real or vaguely alien at the very least. It's generally absurd.
Something absurd can be real.
BAM!

I guess I meant in the context of artistic works, i.e. is Theater of the Absurd exclusively existentially absurd or can it contain aspects of the surreal movement?
I dunno. I thought it was interesting.
