god only knows the truth with all of this, but really what it is is a portrait of American life we don't get to see very often. Racial tension, the scars of war and how PTSD can truly fuck someone up for life, the way the internet reacts en masse to something like this... I'm actually fairly amazed the mainstream media has paid no attention to this--speaking as someone who took a couple years of journalism classes, personally I find it to be one of the most fascinating, multi-layered and sad stories about our culture and history as a whole to come around in a while.
