Shit, how did I forget Attackman?!? Right on man:
I do agree that we need to remember what and who brought us here, which is why I'm thinking we don't need any more "outsiders" (unless a compelling case could be made for their ILF-y-ness). And clearly Vexy is here for his inventobox, which is completely his prerogative. But I doubt he's here to stay as a member of the ILF community.
Maybe it would be worth creating a general "new builders" forum for the ILFers who are starting in on their biz. Something that's a step up from the DIY subsection, but not full individual forums (until these builders have enough product / discussion to warrant it). I would certainly be into that...

I think this would be a great idea. As jrmy said, I am indeed in the beginning of my own foray into effect designing, and it'd be cool to have somewhere to discuss starting a pedal company, and provide updates to interested people.

That's how I feel on both points!

For now, the DIY forum and B/S/T forum will have to do.
Make a new forum for even-more-serious-DIYers, and discussion in the DIY forum dies...or is split in two.

You guys are gonna hate me, but that's totally what the DIY forum is for.

I'd be really interested if you managed to make something that was like a strange mating accident between a fuzz and a vibe

I've been trying to do that actually, I wanted to get a kind of Lo-Fi Vibe like the Lo-Fi Junky sound but without the recording obviously, changing it to fuzz though rather than Lo-Fi would be easy, if I work something out i'll probably post the schematic.
+1 for the whole idea though, I think it'd be great to see some up and coming builders get a place to voice there products, questions & info, although I wonder if it should be limited slightly.

Ppl like Attackman, RocknessMonster, Scruffie, etc could have a sticky for themselves, allowing threads about them and their already built effects to not get buried. Beginners would just post pics and info about their creations on regular threads. As their product improves and people start to enjoy it more, they could get a sticky as well.
Makes me think of a graduated licensing system:
Lvl 1 (Beginner): Thread and pics in "New Builders" forum
Lvl 2 (Intermediate): Sticky thread in "New Builders" forum
Lvl 3 (Advanced): Sub-Forum on ILF
Lvl 4 (Pro): Get the hell off ILF and build your own dynasty!
This forum would also be a good place to get good ideas about new effects to build and to get a sense about how ppl feel about the effects you've already built thru the use of polls (i just love 'em) and general discussions.

I was way too slow in typing my response.

That sound kind'a cool. I don't mind the lo-fi idea as long as it keeps lows, cuz to me something like that could really be used for weird B-3 type thangs

Well it's purposely made Lo-Fi so it is taking the lows out the sound, but a few value changes and it'd be fuzz instead again yeah... but this is taking us off topic, back to the DIY forum we go.

Do you mean vibe as in vibrato, or vibe as in univibe? I've already been thinking about the latter, but the former could be interesting as well ...

Both or either would be way cool. If I'd have to pick though, univibe.
