i really like the range of adjustability on the Meridian. the drawback, though, is that i'd need to learn how to make it do the stuff i want rather than having handy presets. it's one thing to craft yourself a Leslie sound you can dial back in, another entirely to flip a knob to "ROTARY." there's a remarkable range of control here, though.

i've gone back and listened to everything again after a couple of days to forget what i think i know. several otherwise-great options won't work for me because they don't flange. it's down to the Empress or the ALABS. the ALABS is superficially "prettier" while the Empress has a more uncolored sound that might sit better in a mix. i have to listen to yet more demos. sigh.

i decided to go with the Empress. there's something a wee bit canned about the ALABS sounds, though they're tons better than the Joyo. the added tweakability should give it life beyond the three or 4 main presets i'll establish. it the Nebulus doesn't work out i'll try the ALABS. thanks for the suggestions, folks.

Let us know how Nebulus works out for you.
They have some b-stock on sale on their website:

apparently they've discontinued it, so if other folks are interested and want the warranty etc. this would probably be the time to get on it.

IME, the “scratch & dent” stuff from Empress has had no detectable flaws. I just kept looking for it and not seeing it. Maybe I was uniquely lucky, but that impressed the hell out of me.
