Re: Danelectro Convertible
I’m getting obsessed with the idea of building a lap steel or two with Dan-O-esque hardboard semi-hollow construction. Can’t remember if the idea had come to me before this thread. So it’s probably your fault.

I always thought my DC-3 bridge pickup was perfect for slathering in fuzz and effects. It isn't particularly strong and cuts through really well. Maybe the same will hold true for your Convertible? Give it a whirl.

Re: Danelectro Convertible
I've had three lipstick pickup guitars and they all sound fantastic with effects. Low output into fuzz is always a solid recipe.
I'd like to try a lipstick Strat sometime to see if it retains the masonite magic (every damn demo on Youtube is a SRV wannabe) but I'd want to wire it so that 2 and 4 were series instead of parallel.

The folks from Pinebender usually use lipstick pickups, and their sound is both heavy and crazy

Re: Danelectro Convertible
Here's a Dano baritone convertible, which I've never seen before, for $400 not too far from me.

I have an old Silvertone 1448 and w/ the right pedal into a gainy amp it's very heavy sounding to me.
