Alrighty, heres the mockup:

Presenting the Stamp Amp aka Super Tiny Amp. My take on the popular 386 chip amp. The Stamp Amp will actually have two bridged 386 chips, to give about 1watt of power. I think single 386 amps sound great for distortion, but theres not enough output when set clean. Thats not to say a dual 386 is going to be crazy loud, but it will allow you to play cleanly with enough volume that singing or an acoustic dreadnought won't drown it out. Then there will be a gain boost switch for more loudness. So you got your soft/clean and loud/dirty settings. I still need to prototype the bright switch, so that part is up in the air still.

Pretty much need to gauge everyone's interest, so if you plan on getting one, say so!

And I need to finish the design work... finish the bright switch idea to see if its good to go, and then layout the PCB and figure out parts costs.

Then I can settle on a price and take orders :)

Way Cool.
I really need a pink and blue to match my CC/DC.
It’s now on my list.

Okay Okay... just realized/found out there is an LM388 chip, which can offer as much, if a little more even, in a single chip versus two 386 chips. The lm388 is a bit more expensive of a chip, but since you only need one and it will otherwise keep less parts out of the circuit, should make building faster.

Additionally, it is my opinion that a gain control of any kind isn't entirely useful, as the volume control is in front of the amp chip, so in effect it controls gain at the same time. a master volume isnt a practical option in this application because size/cost. as far as a know a rheostat is required and its not as cheap as a pot.

so axing the gain switch... and if i combine the brite switch with the power switch as a 3 way center off toggle... such that it is

up=brite
center=off
down=dark

the circuit is simplifying up a bit :)
but im open to opinions!

Will it do clean?

This would become my practice amp.

It'll do clean, not loud clean, just loud enough for bedroom playing and singing and such. I need to acquire some of these LM388's to test :)

This might be perfect for my dorm room. I'll need to learn how to use it with the Blues Jr. combo, though. :facepalm:

A lot of tube amps let you disconnect the internal speaker, in which case you could hook it up to your blues juniors speaker. this is mostly on older tube amps, so i dont know if that is the case on the blues junior. Otherwise your gonna need a speaker cab. I imagine on the dirt cheap, you can get an old stereo speaker from a thrift shop and hook it up with a 1/4" > RCA adapter

I do need to stop by the Radio Shack around here one of these days. I've been cooped up on campus for too long.

Alright here is my input:

Create the pedal so it can be used as an amp AND a distortion pedal. The DAM
Sonic Titan uses this design but in DIST pedal form. So maybe make it with switchable sections. So, you have either an in/ out with bypass (dist), or just an amp out.

I would totally hit that.

I am definitely on board with this. The three way switch is a good idea, you can never have too many tone options.

The pedal idea is pretty cool too, but I'd rather just have a small amp that I could push with my pedals rather than a pedal that acts like an amp, like the 22 caliber or the micro amp.
