His 15 year old Gibson LP Studio that's all brown and has finish coming off in terrible ways is called Grandpa.
His new ESP all gloss black ESP spiky LP copy that's too slick to actually be cool with some high tech "always in-tune" bridge that's rarely in tune and active pickups is called Batman.
I hate them equally.
is it an evertune bridge?
Probably. It's not a Floyd, but it uses one of those dinky Allen wrenches to adjust whatever on it, just like Floyds used to have.

Personally no. I can understand the significance behind creating a name for your instrument however. It seems like it would create a new level of intimacy, which in turn could help you be a better musician.
I just made that shit up.
It's a bass. It doesn't have a life force unless I give it to it. So other than, bass, I don't have a name ever. lol

Also, this is totes a TB type thread, which is cool but funny at the same time.

I've never really gone on TB, so I'll have to take your word for it. The responses here have been great, though. Some people seem borderline offended by the concept. It had just never occurred to me to name an instrument before, and I thought it was a funny question to ask.

I guess my SG is named Virginia by default because it has a Virginia sticker on it. It's from Virginia Creep the band, but I cut the bottom part off so now it's just the state shape/name and three ghosts.
I like a lot of bands from that area so it fits as well as being a cool girl's name. Other than that I don't name things.

Mission accomplished.
I think there is something to naming an instrument. I've just never been captured by that particular impulse.

One thing is like naming a sound...so it's my project/band is such n such because we have this gear working together...like I can't call my noise synth rig comesect cuz that involved treating samples so it's fun...think I'll call the new stuff smelt for now...or sectcome. ....I'm a genius.

to be clear the office space clip was just meant to bust chops. I don't name my instruments but I encourage you to anthropomorphize your riff hammers if it's fun for you

I think if you want to name your instrument you should, and if you don't, you shouldn't... Who fucking cares?

Warning: The internet is a super serious place. Things you say in partial jest or light sarcasm might result in you getting labeled as a zealot by people with massive psychological hang-ups and enough time one their hands to write walls of text to prove to you that their existence is pointless and they are more ignorant than they perceive. Thank you.
