I'd do a dark natural stain, like a walnut or coffee.

I think one of the old Fender customs colors would be really cool: Shell Pink (!), Seafoam Green, Sonic Blue, maybe Fiesta Red? For me, the pointed-horn thing is SG-esque enough that walnut or trans cherry would feel a bit predictable. I can't see myself ever saying no to a goldtop, though.

I'm all about matte, hand rubbed oil type finishes. Cheap, doesn't require alot of tools, time, space, clean up, experience, or patience. Looks great. Feels great. (and lighter finish = toanz, if you believe in that sort of thing)
