Generally, I agree with you.
Although, with my specific example I don't consider it any worse than the shit that my dad eats from the local Mexican restaurant. Like, it's fried potatoes, a ton of lettuce, some grated cheddar (at least, I hope it's cheddar ), and a bit of spicy sauce that's probably 10,000 calories a drop.

Yeah I remember there was a Taco Bell Express in Greenpoint where you could see them making all the stuff, wasn't good. Metallic bags of beans being squooged into troughs. Guac guns. Like the Wizard of Oz behind the curtain moment, horrific culinary edition.

My mother in law went to Taco Bell when she visited. After a long conversation in Spanish that I didn't follow, she, I guess, ordered a chicken taco. She ate it later and said something was wrong with the shell....it wasn't crispy and it made her gag (why she picked Taco Bell out of every other place in LA, I'll never know). The woman working at Taco Bell was literally meaning the taco is made of chicken but my mother in law just thought it was a stale shell (don't know what they were talking about or if there was some dialect confusion...).
