oh wild, I may look into that. I decided for now to leave well enough alone, I like the guitar as it and with the pickup adjusted right and eq-ing it works decent.

Just out of curiosity, do you not like how the guitar sounds into a high gain amp, gain-y pedals or both?

into amp mostly, or even with boost pedals it just ends up to boomy/muddy. I'm not talking super high gain, like garage rock levels so pretty low in big picture but i got it fairly balanced out by fiddling with it.

These things are kind of ugly but could work. I found out about them when I was looking for something to amplify an old resonator w/ no hacking.

Bought it last year and gigged once with it. Going with a smaller amp now. I added a master volume to it to control how loud this thing is. Some normal wear on the amp for being from the 80's.

Dude bought a vintage amp, modded it and drilled through the chassis to do so, only to list the amp for sale shortly thereafter.
On the outside the work doesn't look bad and yeah, the mod is going to be reversible but WHAT IS U DOING?

It already had a FRICKIN MASTER VOLUME. Yes, it's more like a *master volume* but attenuators exist, as do other low power amps, lower sensitivity drivers, so many nondestructive options.
Still is lovely vertical input 4104 in otherwise great condition but hot dang I'm agitated in trying to wrap my head around that thought process.

It is pretty silly, people forget how loud most "old" amps really are. He probably just wanted a jcm and then realized how fuck balls loud they are.

I don't think he drilled it anywhere though? Looks like he took the presences pot and moved it to where the second speaker output was and put the attenuater where the presence knob used to be?

That looks pretty rad, I checked out the humbucker but it's still too tall, I only have <10mm of clearance on mine.

Yeah, I thought that Silvertone looked good too. I wouldn't do that to one, but if it's already like that…

If you're interested in those surface mount humbuckers, maybe that guy'd wind you one that'd fit your guitar. You could always ask.

if it had already been modified, maybe.... but yours looks real nice. and i dont think you have explored the potential of the guitar. i have the same model, and when paired up with certain fuzz pedals, it rocks. not boomy at all.
