STALKER is easily Top 5 films of all time. That movie is intense. Tarkovsky is one of my favorites. If you ever want to feel like garbage read that last few entries of his diary when he died financially ravaged and alone in exile

But a movie like that and as Mr. Blackened Soul mentioned, THE SEVENTH SEAL, I dub not a 'fantasy' but 'a metaphysical film'. I don't know...same with THE MIRROR and THE WERCKMEISTER HARMONIES.

Some more erotic fantasy. The director of this was also a stop-motion virtuoso...this is not one of his stop-motion films...

Oh shit...GUY MADDIN movies...pretty much the definition of unconventional...but by exploiting conventions. CAREFUL is my favorite but you'll be hard pressed to find a bad film from him (warning, his aesthetics can be polarizing)

I don't think I understand what type of movie you're looking for. LOL! Just obscure and cult like? Anything from the Criterion Collection would do you good in that realm. Except Salo, fuck that movie.

.. I rented flesh gordon once, that one I remember finding so offputting I showed my dad before we rented it and he said ughhhhhh naw, (naw to that but not candyman?) so from that understood it was hardcore, went back to rent it when I was able to sneak it threw and holy shit. yall ever seen flesh gordon....its horrid, freaked the kid spending the night over.

Dude, I love you!

My favorite director ever, my favorite photographer ever, my favorite writer ever, but I don't feel good talking about my obsession with him, I even changed my username because I thought it was too much

Not sure if you've heard yet, but Sven Nykvist passed away just yesterday. Offret is IMO the most visually stunning Tarkovsky movie, and it's because of him :(
