I think most of the successful builders in the industry realize how fortunate they are to be building pedals for a living. (it's a time-consuming job, but a rewarding one) You see the camaraderie and the appreciation from builders, in how they try to engage customers on social media, as they feed off the enthusiasm coming their way.
Then you've got someone like Fuller, who is probably smarter than 90% of the people he interacts with, so I understand it's annoying to deal with customers, who refuse to read FAQs or to do basic trouble-shooting (switching cables, power supplies). Engineers are generally not the best at image management and social graces. I get that they'd prefer to be tinkering with a breadboard circuit, rather than being pestered by customers----but it comes with the territory. Fuller's not just earned the ire of small fries, but also from session players and producers. It really wouldn't take much to promote a more courteous and accommodating service experience.

Please elaborate.

What jobs aren't time-consuming?

Read a lot of stuff about Mike Fuller, don't think I'd think much of him saying he hasn't used anyone elses products in 25 years though. That might be a smart move on his part depending on his personality. Fulltone makes very straightforward (and really good imo) stuff.
Interested in the Jack Deville drama. I got a big email from Mr. Black today that went on and on about mac and cheese. The last paragraph had some Bstock sale.

I saw him call out Catalinbread for ripping off one of his designs on TGP a while back. Dunno if that was a joke or not though. I'm dumb.

Yeah, but so's Joel and he's one of the (if not
the) nicest builders out there.

I think that's the most pretentious and stupid statement I've heard from a builder and I've heard a lot stupid ass shit from builders. How in the world could you want to work in effects and never look at the market around you. It makes zero sense.
Plus all his shit is boring and been done a million times but better.

There are several jobs which pay $50K-100K+ a year and require less than 40 hours of weekly work.
When I said it's time-consuming, I meant more time-consuming and stressful than a lot of jobs. When you're a small business owner, it's hard to leave your job at work. Business and ways to improve your business is on your mind constantly.

Because he makes 'boring' stuff. Some people find looking at a ton of other stuff for ideas and inspiration becomes poison. I think it makes perfect sense for some people to purposely stay away from others creations that are in the same arena.

That makes no sense to me, but whatever works. Obviously he sells a lot. Still a douche.

Yeah...BUT....Joel is a different person with a different set of personality traits.....
I've never interacted with Fuller, because I've never had any reason to. I have, however, spent significant time with people at extreme ends of the intelligence spectrum, and Mike's not exactly an outlier, when it comes to talented individuals who just don't have the mental make-up to manage the expectations and emotions of other people. He would be better off, if he hired someone else to be his go-between with the customers.

I mean, you definitely have a point since I'm pretty, uh, derisive of my customers because of how idiotic they can be, but that's why I tend to avoid answering phones or being involved in customer service in any way, too.

Also, am I the only one that finds it funny that he "hasn't tried any pedals in the last 25 years"?
How'd you come up with the designs for all your clones, then?
